The Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point comic series lands on April 20, 2021, offering players codes for redeemable in-game items, such as the new Rebirth Harley Quinn skin. The six-issue miniseries is not the first time the Caped Crusader has shown up in Fortnite, and fans may not know how important his inclusion in the game actually was from the very beginning. Years in the making, Batman has been an integral part of Fortnite's story regarding the Zero Point's secret origin.

Batman was first seen in Season X when Gotham City was sucked into the Fortnite world using a Rift Beacon back in 2019. The crossover was part of Batman's 80th anniversary and included skins for Batman, Catwoman, and several pickaxe, back bling, and glider cosmetics. This initial tie-in was just a tease of things to come, as the plan for Batman has always been much larger than just a few cosmetic items. Now, the new Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point comic will give players insight into the Zero Point, Loop, and life both on and off the Island, all of which will be canon.

Years in the Making

Seemingly, early conversations with DC laid out how Fortnite's story would work and how the Dark Knight could fit into it. As Epic Games and DC talked, details started to solidify, including how Batman, Catwoman, Harley Quinn, and even G.I. Joe's Snake Eyes, would fit into the wider Fortnite universe.

As the Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point comic began to take shape, it seems it was important to Mustard that the story remained canon, with events in the comic coinciding with those on Fortnite's current Apollo Island at their time of release.  As players explore Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 6, they will notice that the comic's events influence what is going on around them in-game and vice-versa. It is a smart tactic to get Fortnite players to buy into the comic and Batman fans to dip their toes into Fortnite. While Batman may not have been the first crossover to show up in Fortnite, he was certainly one of the first planned and a central focus of the overall storyline.

Secrets of The Island Revealed

While Fortnite's plans for Batman include him arriving on Apollo Island with no memories of who he is or where he is, he will also have to contend with a Batman who is already on the island and has been stuck in the loop since Season X. The island has slowly changed this previous Batman, as players will see unfold. As Batman tries to figure out who he is and how to escape the Loop, he'll not only come face to face with himself, but also Fortnite favorites such as Fishstick, Bandolier, and Renegade Raider.

Also, Harley Quinn arrived before him, and there is no idea what she has been up to in the time leading up to his arrival. How does Catwoman fit into all this, and how will it affect their current relationship? These are questions many DC fans may have right off the bat, but Fortnite fans will be tearing through Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point's pages to uncover burning questions they have had for seasons.

With planned twists and surprises, other characters from the multiverse are sure to make an appearance, even though Batman and crew are the books' core focus. With Epic Games taking a very MCU approach to planning and storytelling, there is no way to know exactly who will show up and what ties to past events will have a major impact on what Zero Point will reveal. All that is currently known is that Batman's history with Fortnite has been long-planned since the game's conception.

Digital Delights

Players who purchase issues of Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point will get codes to redeem in Fortnite for cosmetic items, starting with the Rebirth Harley Quinn skin. The codes will be available with each digital issue of the series as well.

Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
