Fortnite's Batman crossover event has arrived, bringing the world of Gotham City to the Island in honor of the character's 80th anniversary. As well as adding the Grapnel Gun and Explosive Batarang items, the event replaces Tilted Town with a miniature Gotham City, and introduces skins for Catwoman and the Caped Crusader himself. Helping to introduce these additions are seven new challenges based around the event, each offering Battle Stars as well as some unique Batman-themed rewards. Here's how to complete them all.

Deal damage with the Explosive Batarang

The first challenge is to deal 250 damage to opponents with the Explosive Batarang, which can be done after finding the new item in Floor Loot, Chests, Supply Drops or Llamas. The Batarang drops in stacks of 5, and when thrown, hones in to opponents before exploding for 50 damage. This means it's possible to complete the challenge with a single stack, provided the player's Fortnite throwing skills are up to to the challenge.

Light the Bat Signals

This challenge is to light three different Bat Signals outside Gotham City by tracking them down and interacting with them. There are eight fixed locations for the Signals that have been discovered so far, spread across the entire map. Any three of these can be used to complete the challenge, even if another player in the match has already interacted with them.

Use the Grapnel Gun

The Batman Grapnel Gun is the second of the two items added in the event, and can be found in Floor Loot, Chests, Supply Drops or Llamas. It contains 10 charges, but players only need to use it once in three different matches to complete this challenge.

Defuse the Joker's Gas Canisters

To complete this challenge players will need to track down and interact with three of the Joker's Smilex gas canisters, which randomly appear in Points of Interest across Fortnite's map. The easiest way to find one is to listen for the continuous beeping as well as look for a flashing red light. It's worth noting that the canisters really are counting down, and explode with a giggle after too much time has elapsed. Therefore it's a good idea to start looking for them as soon as possible.

Deal Damage After Using the Grapnel Gun.

This challenge can be completed quite easily after looting one of the new Batman Grapnel Guns. Players should simply use the Grapnel before or during a fight, and then make sure they deal some damage to their opponent in the following 30 seconds. It's a task that even the newest of players should be able to accomplish, especially if Epic disables the B.R.U.T.E Mech for a third time.

The Big Finale

The final challenge combines elements from three of the others, requiring players to light a Bat Signal, use the Grapnel Gun and deal damage with a Explosive Batarang all in the same match. The first task will be quite straightforward for players who've already discovered the Bat Signal locations, but finding and utilizing both the Batman Grapnel Gun and Explosive Batarang in a single match may be more challenging.

Rewards

Each of the challenges is worth 10 Fortnite Battle Stars, but there are also a number of special rewards up for grabs. These include a Batman Spray for completing the Batarang Challenge, a Gotham Loading Screen for completing two challenges, a Batman Banner for four, and the Catwoman Glider for six.

As seen in the Fortnite x Avengers crossover, Epic likes to go all out with their superhero events, and the Batman anniversary is one of the largest and feature-rich so far. The event will continue to run until October 1st, after which the challenges and rewards will no longer be available to earn.

Fortnite is out now in early access for Android, iOS, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
