Even with declining Twitch viewership numbers, Fortnite continues to be a dominant force in gaming thanks to its ever-evolving world and consistent updates. Currently, players are battling monsters as well as each other in the Fortnitemares special event, which is set to wrap up very soon. Things could be getting a little more interesting after today's update, however, as it not only makes a few changes to available weapons but also adds a very unique item which could change how certain players move around the world.

Update 6.21 in Fortnite makes a few changes to both the Battle Royale and Save the World experience. The biggest addition to Battle Royale are Balloons, which players can deploy in situations to gain height, clear long gaps, and much more. Up to 6 can be deployed at a time and with each balloon inflated, the higher and faster the player will go until the max build height is reached. Primary fire inflates the balloon, while the secondary fire will let go of them. Other players can also pop them by shooting at them, giving the item a bit of a risk and reward feel.

Three weapons have also been vaulted as part of this update including the Semi-Automatic Sniper Rifle and Guided Missile, both of which are no longer found in the game world. Dual Pistols have also been thrown into the ever-expanding weapons vault, though players who feel a nostalgic pull to use them again can do so in Playground Mode.

For fans of Save the world, Epic Games has added a new hero called Dim Mak Igor, a Plague Doctor Ninja. In addition to various bug fixes, Save the World also received a few changes to mission modifiers, adjusted the Mutant Storm mission to force only three potential modifiers to appear, and adding Volcanic and Vortex modifiers for mini-boss battles. Perk caches now have a chance of dropping during mini-boss fights starting in mid-Plankerton and beyond.

Although Halloween has now come and gone, the Fortnitemares event is still active for a few more days. In addition to a new PvE mode, many players have been working on finishing up specific challenges in order to unlock the unique glider known as the Dark Engine. With Fortnitemares ending officially on November 4 at 1pm Eastern Time, Epic recommends that players have all challenges complete and be in a match at that exact time to witness a special event.
