Fortnite's most recent globe-shaped vehicle addition has been increasingly popular. The Baller allows Fortnite players to roll, rappel, and swing around the battle royale map with speed and ease. But that freedom of movement, that perhaps-too-inspired design, has also proven to be The Baller's downfall. Epic Games has, unfortunately, had to temporarily disable The Baller in Fortnite as of Monday morning.

According to Epic, The Baller is causing a stability issue within Fortnite. Epic's remained ambiguous about the stability issue, likely so players won't try it out for themselves, but if Epic is looking into and felt it necessary to disable the vehicle then it then it's likely a serious problem. Temporary is the key word here, however, as Epic plans to "roll out a status update" when it has something more to share. That hopefully means The Baller will be back in-game before too long.

Players are already speculating what the issue with The Baller might be to cause Epic to pull it from the game. Some players think it might have something to do with players' tendency to form a group of The Ballers, latching onto each other with the grappling plunger and seeing Fortnite's physics go wild. Perhaps a more likely guess is The Baller's odd interaction with lava, launching players high into the air and potentially disrupting matches. A just as likely scenario is that The Baller is causing Fortnite server performance issues without players even realizing it.

It'd difficult to discern just how quickly Epic will be able to fix The Baller's stability issue and return it to the game, given the lack of details. If the issue is either of the lava or the rat king Baller issues mentioned previously, Epic could potentially have a fix in a matter of hours or days. If the issue is a server-side, behind-the-scenes technical problem then players could be waiting a long while before The Baller returns. The Vault is ever hungry.

Whatever the reason for The Baller being disabled and whenever it's likely to return, one thing is clear: The Baller is a hit. While the new oddball vehicle may have its detractors, most players are enjoying the way The Baller is mixing up Fortnite's battle royale gameplay. The vehicle's unique feature set, the inability to shoot while riding it, and its unique versatility make it one of Epic's more popular and fun additions to Fortnite yet.

Fortnite is available now in early access for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, Xbox One, and mobile devices.
