So far, Fortnite's third season has been aquatic-themed, with the map being flooded with water and new skins based on Aquaman and his archenemy Black Mantis being added. But some new leaks reveal that the game could take on a bit of a sci-fi twist in the future.

Regular Fortnite leaker FortTory uncovered a new point of interest and in-game model of a crashed spaceship which, while not yet live, were added in the most recent patch and dubbed as the Crash Site. It's supposed to be placed near Craggy Cliffs but the location is currently still covered in water, implying that it will appear once the water level has lowered enough.

We already know that the submerged map won't last forever and the water has been gradually receding, allowing previous locales like Risky Reels to return to the game, so it's only a matter of time until the ship appears.

But who exactly does the ship belong to? We may already know the answer to that. It's more than likely that its owned by Siona, one of the Battle Pass skins who is clearly wearing an astronaut outfit or at least something resembling one.

This then raises the question of why Siona was in the spaceship in the first place. What's the story behind that? At the very least, challenges related to the ship have been uncovered as well, which are referred to as "Ancient Astronaut" challenges.

Strangely, they involve players to find the ship, recover a missing part, fix the ship, and then prepare a launch sequence, but the last one is called "Stop Ship Launch." Why make players go through all the trouble only to have them stop it? We're obviously lacking context here but it's an intriguing mystery regardless.

Could this be foreshadowing for what Epic Games has planned for the next season? Fortnite hasn't really gone to space yet, (though it has received space-themed cosmetics) but would it involve taking all the players to a new map altogether? Or is it heralding something alien-related? If the spaceship is ancient, is that implying it came from the past and time-travel is involved? At this point, all fans can do is speculate.

As for when the ship will finally appear, we have no idea and any planned dates could change anyway. A previous leak suggested that cars would be added to the game today, but that hasn't happened.

The newest trailer, which advertised the aforementioned Black Manta skin, also appears to be teasing the return of the Heavy Assault Rifle weapon, a fan-favorite which was vaulted at the beginning of Season 2.

Fortnite is available for Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
