With how many crossovers are already in Fortnite, it's not even all that surprising any more when a new one is announced. And thanks to datamining efforts, fans tend to already learn what the next one will be before Epic Games announces anything. It happened with Tron, it happened with Street Fighter, and it's happened again with Alien.
Frequent Fortnite dataminer ShiinaBR has shared their newest findings on Twitter, namely a better look at the image and clearer audio within the most recent portal to appear on the map, dubbed the Keplar portal. Between the eerie looking spaceship hallway and the sounds of slightly high-pitched, monstrous screaming, it seems practically guaranteed that it's meant to be alluding to the sci-fi horror franchise.
It's not all too shocking to see Alien being represented. In fact, fans suspected it would be a future Fortnite crossover after the Predator's inclusion, given the two franchises' history with each other. The question is what skin will be added. The obvious and safest pick would be the Xenomorph itself as its the most iconic aspect of the franchise. Some might argue that Sigourney Weaver's character Ripley could be added as well, but ShiinaBR previously claimed that the Keplar skin will be male, which would rule out Ripley.
Regardless, fans can probably expect a proper announcement within the next couple of days if previous trends are anything to go by. After the aforementioned Tron and Street Fighter crossovers, it'll be nice to see Epic returning to the hunter theme it established for Season 5. Those last two crossovers didn't really match up with it, but the Xenomorph would be a perfect fit, even if its inclusion means fans will get to see it carrying guns and flossing.
There are still a couple more weeks until Season 5 is expected to end so fans can probably expect at least one or two more crossovers being added before it wraps up, especially since that's been such a prevalent theme this season, with Jonesy hopping between realities to recruit these characters for... something. Some fans are theorizing that one of them is going to be with Family Guy, but that seems like an incredibly odd pick, even without taking into account the hunter theme.
Others are trying to figure out what Season 6 will entail, with signs pointing towards some kind of cataclysmic event involving the Zero Point itself. One fan believes that the portals are foreshadowing the return of the mysterious Cube, which hasn't been seen since Chapter 1.
