Season 4 of Fortnite is expected to conclude with a seismic event, similar to Season 3's demolition of Dusty Depot by an asteroid. Today, Fortnite players are hearing the sound of a warning siren coming from the Evil Lair near Snobby Shores, and it's sending the community into a frenzy.

Initial reports of the sound drew skepticism regarding their authenticity, until prominent players, like OpTic Gaming's Jack "CouRage" Dunlop, posted their own experiences with the siren to social media.

Ever since Fortnite players discovered missiles housed within lairs scattered across the map, theories have suggested that one or more of those missiles would deploy and bring Season 4 to a destructive end and make way for a new theme for Season 5. Today's reporting advances that narrative and will surely add fuel to conspiracy theories leading up to Season 5's launch on July 12.

Following the release of patch v4.5.0 today, Fortnite players almost immediately began reporting the ominous tone, some theorizing it was in correlation with the mysterious counters that started appearing on TV screens last week. It seems safe to say that something devastating is about to happen in Fortnite that may or may not bring another area of the map to rubble.

Aside from assured impending doom, the new patch also brought about an array of updates to both its Save the World and Battle Royale modes. The patch introduced a number of quality of life improvements, including the addition of map markers, changes to gameplay mechanics, and added a cool new weapon choice: dual pistols.

As developments undoubtedly continue regarding the incoming Season 4 finale, players can expect more news about what might become of Fortnite's ever-evolving map for Season 5. With only a couple weeks left on the clock for Season 4, things are only going to get juicier from here.

Fortnite is available now for iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
