Not too long ago, Epic Games detailed the contents of Update 6.22 for Fortnite Battle Royale, providing information regarding the second part of the Fortnitemares quest, a new weapon for players to use, and the Limited Time Mode known as Team Terror. While these new assets should tide most fans over until the next content drop, others are already looking around the bend to see what's on the way. As it so happens, a recent datamine of the game's files have potentially uncovered that an aerial vehicle will be added soon.

As indicated by the audio in the tweet below, there files in Fortnite which provide evidence that a new vehicle called the “Bumblebee” is set to make its way into the title, with the sound files indicating that it could be a plane of some sort. Of course, since there haven't been any art assets revealed just yet, there's really no telling exactly how the potential flying apparatus could operate, or if it's even an aerial vehicle to begin with.

For those who have been out of the loop when it comes to Fortnite, Epic Games has added a handful of different modes of transportation for players to use, with the publisher and developer having recently added Balloons as a means to get around. Since Balloons are a pretty unconventional way to travel, players also have vehicles like the All-Terrain Kart and the Quadcrasher to choose from if they want to tear tire tracks across the map.

All things considered, while Balloons are technically an aerial object used to travel in Fortnite, should the "Bumblebee" actually be an airplane of some sort, then it would mark the first time that the free-to-play Battle Royale title has offered a flying vehicle that can be manually controlled. Sure, Jetpacks were also introduced for a brief period, but like Balloons, they can't be considered vehicles, either. So, with Epic yet to officially confirm the existence of the "Bumblebee", we will simply have to wait for the next weekly update and see if the studio will let players take flight.

Fortnite is available now for Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
