The next update to Fortnite and players may want to prepare to have a hefty download ahead of them before boarding the bus once the 15.10 releases. Players have a number of expectations for what Epic Games will include in the next update, although little has been announced outside of a major performance boost enhancing the base game.

Given the timing of the patch's launch, some players have begun speculating that Fortnite 15.10 might be bringing the Winterfest event back as well, but there have been no official statements from Epic Games to support this. Still, the size of the update can inform players just how extensive the performance and resolution enhancement is, as many textures will be updated to have a consistently higher quality.

According to Epic Games, the update will be launching on December 15th at 1 am PST/4 am EST/9 am GMT, meaning that for many players it will either be cutting through a late-night play session or be available before they log in on Tuesday. Additionally, the incoming patch will be a 23 GB download, meaning that players are in for a substantial installation when the update goes live. The size of the download is one of the reasons players are speculating that recent rumors of Winterfest returning to Fortnite could be coming with this update, especially giving the timing in the middle of the month.

Since the only thing that has been announced is a performance upgrade for Fortnite, players may want to temper their expectations to be prepared that the update won't be bringing any new events. Considering the size of the game itself and the size of the download, it's likely that the new high resolution textures could be making up the bulk of the 23 GB update. On that note, for players who would prefer to opt out of the high resolution performance increase, it is possible to leave the 14 GB texture pack out of the download in order to save space.

Whether or not the 15.10 update brings Winterfest, it doesn't mean that there won't be a host of secrets coming to Fortnite for players to discover after launch. Looking at Epic Games' history with the battle royale title, every time the developer adds any amount of data to the game it always comes with new Easter Eggs and secrets. So, players may want to be on the lookout once they download Fortnite 15.10 as digging through these little developer hints embedded into the world has become a secondary reason to keep signing in.

Fortnite is available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
