With a full lineup of games at The Game Awards 2021, fans have seen plenty of new reveals, gameplay trailers, and much more. Players have gotten looks at some of the biggest upcoming games, including Forspoken, a flashy new IP coming from Square Enix. Forspoken got a beefy trailer during The Game Awards.

The trailer shows off some of Forspoken's narrative, combat, and more, as well as revealing Forspoken's release date as May 24, 2022. The trailer reveals that protagonist Frey Holland is being held by some sort of fantastical organization that believes she was involved in a sort of corruption event, though it doesn't dive too deeply into what, exactly, that will mean.

The trailer mostly focuses on combat, though, much like the other trailers have. Of course, fans have come to expect the flashy particle effects and bombastic visuals that have been featured so heavily in marketing material leading up to this point. It's clear that Forspoken will be a visually appealing game, as evidenced by said effects and the environmental detail featured in footage up to this point.

Hopefully, Forspoken is able to stick the landing, being everything that fans have been hoping for. It certainly seems like it will manage to blend narrative and gameplay in a compelling way, but that remains to be seen.

Forspoken releases on May 24, 2022.
