Being no stranger to unexpected crossovers, For Honor surprises fans with regalia sourced from Yacht Club Games' Shovel Knight. Through March 4, players will be able to earn and purchase Shovel Knight-inspired cosmetics.

Included in this round of event cosmetics are a slew of illustrious outfits, execution effects, and an exclusive emote. Casual For Honor players may want to return sooner rather than later in order to get the most out of this unique crossover.

While Ubisoft's promotions typically feature a limited-time game mode in addition to Dominion, Duels, Breach, and Tribute, this crossover will not be accompanied by a Shovel Knight-specific mode. What is included are treasure-spewing emote effects, a cameo from propeller knight, and a rich blue cobalt armor material perfect for in-game cosplay. Fans of Yacht Club Games' most recent project Cyber Shadow can only hope that this collaboration paves the way for future crossovers.

In the past, Ubisoft has utilized For Honor as a means to promote several of its latest projects, often featuring other sword-swinging combat-intensive titles such as Prince of Persia and Assassin's Creed. The developer's sense of humor has also come to surface with a Rabbids-inspired April Fool's Day event and even a surprise day-long micro event where each hero's weapon lit up akin to lightsabers in recognition of the 4th of May.

As For Honor continues well into its fourth year complete with new heroes and an evolving story seemingly influenced by the game's own lore-building events, the state of the game feels healthier than ever. While a shovel-wielding knight hero may not be in the works as some fans may have hoped, this unexpected crossover provides the title a fun splash of personality, as is the case wherever Shovel Knight makes a guest appearance in games like Super Smash Bros.

Though both games have showcased surprising amounts of crossover potential in the past, Ubisoft and Yacht Club Games' working together may seem a surprise to some. It stands to reason that many fans 0f For Honor would be waiting for the eventual Assassin's Creed Valhalla crossover, especially given the timing of the Viking-themed installment's latest addition of the River Raids update. With the last time the two franchises joined being 2018, a future event may be more likely than fans would think.

For Honor is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One with versions for the PS5 and Xbox Series X coming early December.
