A father playing For Honor tapped into his paternal instincts when his son got attacked by two enemy players. Playing as the Lawbringer, a tanky For Honor hero, the dad managed to join the fight just in time to defeat both enemies.
For Honor is a medieval fantasy fighting game that pitches heroes from various factions against each other in brutal close quarters combat. Players can choose to play as several heroes from the five different factions—Knights, Vikings, Samurai, Wu Lin, and Outlanders. Each faction has a balance of tanky and damage-dealing heroes, with the exception of the Outlanders faction, which is a disparate hodgepodge of adventurers, wanderers, and freelancers. The Lawbringer in For Honor belongs to the Knights faction, and is a tanky hybrid hero that focuses on crowd control, disruption, and high damage heavy attacks.
The father, Henrystonetower, posted the video to his TikTok account. At the start of the video his son can be heard saying the names of the heroes attacking him, and Henrystonetower tells him to try and get revenge as he sprints toward the tower the three are fighting in. He enters the fray and lands an overhead heavy attack to finish off the enemy Orochi, then goes for the execution. Before he can finish it, however, he's interrupted by the second enemy, a Tiandi player. His son is killed by the Tiandi, and then Henystonetower lands a series of attacks that end in the Tiandi's death. After a brutal For Honor execution, Henrystonetower revives his son and the clip ends with him saying, "I got you, buddy."
This is a pretty fun video, and it's heartwarming too. For Honor's brutally cinematic combat and flashy executions always make for an interesting watch, and adding a bit of fatherly protectiveness to that makes for an entertaining watch. Although For Honor does have a single player campaign with co-op capability, it doesn't provide quite the same heart-pounding combat that playing multiplayer does.
For Honor is an older game with a difficult learning curve, but the niche appeal of the game's setting and gameplay mean that there is still a decently active playerbase. Ubisoft continues to keep the game updated with new features being added as well, like adding crossplay to For Honor, and that makes it easier for players to find a full match to get into. While it can be a hard game to master, this clip shows that it can still be a bonding activity for parents and their kids.
