For Honor Reveals Closed Alpha Details and Three New Fighters

By | 1 month ago

Ubisoft releases three new For Honor trailers detailing three new fighters – one from each faction – along info on the upcoming closed alpha test this weekend.

It has been a busy summer for the developers behind For Honor, as the melee-centric title has been in the spotlight at most of the major gaming events like E3, Gamescom, and PAX West. Fans have received a wealth of new information during this stretch as well, ranging from breakdowns of the different playable classes, single player gameplay, and even details on the various special editions available for purchase. With no end in sight, Ubisoft has just revealed more details on a new closed alpha test along with trailers for three new fighters.

This week, Ubisoft unveils the fighting style and weapon of choice for three of the twelve fighters from the main roster. The fast moving Orochi hails from the Samurai faction, wielding a deadly katana, while the heavy Conqueror handles a shield and flail in support of the Knights. Finally, the chaotic and hard hitting Berserker of the Viking group storms the battlefield with dual axes.

In addition to the new fighters, Ubisoft also confirmed that a new round of closed alpha testing begins this week. Kicking off on September 15, the alpha will offer players three of the five multiplayer modes: Duel, Brawl, and the previously revealed Dominion mode. Half of the classes will be available to try as well, including the three mentioned above and the Vanguard classes introduced last week.

Ubisoft is also giving players a first look at the progression system during this test, where players can earn XP to advance. Each new rank will unlock a variety of items from armor and weapons, abilities, and even new visual customization options for the fighters. This round of testing will last through the weekend, ending officially on September 18 at 5pm PT.

While much has been made of the impressive multiplayer battles, Ubisoft has also made sure to confirm that a dedicated single player mode will ship with the game. Revealed in a cinematic trailer, the three factions have been brought together after a mysterious apocalyptic event. Thousands of years have passed, but the bad blood between the factions still runs thick and they are in a near-constant state of war  It also doesn’t help to have a character like Apollyon, also known as Destroyer in the book of Revelations, manipulating all three factions from the sidelines.
