Fans of Ubisoft's hack-and-slash fighting game, For Honor, may have a new reason to return to the highly-rated title thanks to the announcement of Apollyon's Legacy, an event currently taking place as part of the game's fifth multiplayer season, The Age of Wolves.

Having begun on February 15, Apollyon's Legacy will run until March 8, and features a series of progressively stronger opponents for players to face in a new, limited-time game mode called Test Your Metal. This mode, similar to the game's existing Elimination game type, tasks four players with defeating an opposing team consisting of the bosses from For Honor's story mode. Every time the players manage to win a round, the AI opponents grow in strength, making each round progressively more challenging. Along with Test Your Metal, Apollyon's Legacy also features new Event Orders and Extra Fests each weekend of the event.

In addition to this new gameplay content, the event adds a host of new unlockable loot items to For Honor, including two new color swatches, an embossing, emote, and new weapons themed around Apollyon, and a new battle outfit called the Age of Wolves. Merely logging into For Honor during the period of Apollyon's Legacy will reward players with an exclusive emblem outline entitled Apollyon's Crest. Although previous seasons have added new classes to For Honor, the Apollyon's Legacy event is focused purely on new loot items and game modes.

New For Honor Event Pits Players Against the Game's Bosses

For those players who wish to avoid grinding for loot items during the course of the event, Ubisoft also plans to make a new in-game bundle available for purchase on February 22 called the Apollyon Bundle. Priced at 25,000 Steel (although this price will adjust so that players who already own any of the items contained in the bundle will pay commensurately less), the Apollyon Bundle instantly unlocks the Apollyon's Wolves Mask Outfit, the "I Am War!" emote, the Age of Wolves Battle Outfit, the Apollyon's Might embossing, and both the Blackstone Elite and Iron Legion color swatches. Worth noting is that the Apollyon's Wolves Mask Outfit, contained in the bundle, will also be available for standalone purchase.

While For Honor received a great deal of criticism, and seemingly suffered from low player counts, Ubisoft have nonetheless continued to provide updates and new content since the game's release just over a year ago. Since the game's fourth season, For Honor seems to have made something of a recovery from the earlier criticism.

The introduction of new rage quit penalties addressed a major issue that the game's online community has long complained about. Fans of For Honor can only hope that Ubisoft continues to make positive steps as they press on with the game's fifth season and the Apollyon's Legacy event. Ubisoft has already announced that more updates are coming during the Age of Wolves, including tweaks to classes, progression, and ranked play, in addition to new upcoming training modes.

For Honor is available on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
