Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach may be one of the most contentiously received games in the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise, but it hasn't impeded the excitement most dedicated of FNAF fans. It's those fans who were rewarded by developer Steel Wool Studios just before Christmas. Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach received an important update, small in size but addressing several key concerns. Most importantly, it allows Five Nights at Freddy's faith to finally finish off their 100% completions.
While much is left to be said about Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach's tumultuous development, one thing that's clear is that a substantial amount of content was cut. This, unfortunately, led to some consequences in the game itself. More specifically, two of Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach's Retro CD collectibles had become inaccessible due to unclear reasons. The recent patch for Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach fixed this problem, notifying players that these FNAF collectibles items are now found in new places in the game.
The remaining changes in the patch are all fixes for known issues. Five changes were made in total. The first dealt with a problem with a recharge station outside of Parts and Service. Fix number two address Freddy being available too early after exiting the sewers. Third, some players were having problems interacting with arcades, but should be fine now. Fourth, a specific spoilery mission objective was accidentally repeating, but should complete normally now. Lastly, security badges were being made available more than they were supposed to be.
While the patch note itself may seem inconsequential, the fix for arcades is a much bigger deal than one might otherwise think. Being unable to use arcades was preventing Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach players from not only completing one of FNAF: Security Breach's multiple endings, but stopping PlayStation players from acquiring certain trophies - including the platinum. The previously inaccessible Princess Quest arcade games should now work.
This small update for Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach is unlikely to dramatically shift any player's opinion of the game. It's there to ensure new players don't run into any of the issues other players have, as well as to make replays a better experience for dedicated fans and completionists. That said, it's good to see Steel Wool putting in the work.
Needless to say, Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach still has a number of technical issues left for Steel Wool to correct. The team very clearly wanted, or needed, to get this game out for 2021. Perhaps the recent update will instill confidence in players that Steel Wool will make sure to fix what issues remain, or that future FNAF games will do better.
