Five Nights at Freddy's VR: Help Wanted felt like a major milestone for the hit franchise. While it was the series' first release for the PlayStation and other virtual reality platforms, the game also allowed fans to revisit settings from previous entries.

Beginning as an independent effort by Scott Cawthon, Five Nights at Freddy's quickly attained massive popularity and spawned several sequels and spinoffs. In light of the game's success, developer Steel Wool Studios announced that Help Wanted would be coming to three new platforms in 2020.

While Help Wanted began life as a virtual reality exclusive, Steel Wool and FNAF creator Scott Cawthon soon developed a version of the game that did not require a VR headset. That version was released for PCs and the PlayStation 4 on December of 2019. During that time, Cawthon teamed up with Illumix Games to create an augmented reality game. FNAF AR: Special Delivery brought the twisted animatronics to mobile phones (as Pokemon GO did for its titular creatures) and now the franchise is expanding even further.

In a brief announcement to its website, Steel Wool Studios stated that Five Nights at Freddy's VR: Help Wanted would be coming to the Oculus Quest, the Nintendo Switch, and the Xbox One. While the coronavirus prevented the developer from providing specific release dates, the post stated that the game was "on schedule" and that more details would come later. The announcement ended with an encouragement to stay safe during the pandemic.

The ports to future consoles are to be expected. With the series' growing popularity, it's no surprise that Cawthon and the series' other developers would want to introduce the games to players on other platforms. This is not the first move to new platforms as well. The original trilogy has already been ported to the Nintendo Switch. Moreover, Help Wanted is one of the best games to port, as its compilation of scenes and gameplay from every game that came before it makes it both a strong introduction and a crash course on the series' lore.

While this re-release might not be new content, hopefully, Steel Wool's announcement will excite FNAF fans who were unable to play the VR game on its existing platforms. This move also seems to represent the franchise's enduring popularity, with two book series and yet another ScottGames-authored entry coming soon. It's clear that Five Nights at Freddy's is going to remain in the public's eye for awhile.

Five Nights at Freddy's VR: Help Wanted is available now for the PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows and Oculus Rift. It will be available for the Oculus Quest, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One in 2020.
