Five Nights at Freddy's creator Scott Cawthon dropped an update to his community via Steam, informing fans on the status of five different ongoing game projects, a new book series, and the movie. The first is a new FNAF project by Cawthon himself and the second is a "AAA game" Cawthon is making in partnership with another studio.

To clarify, Cawthon makes clear that both of the new game projects are "0%" complete. That is to say that they are projects that Cawthon either wants to do or is working towards that have yet to reach a state of official confirmation. Cawthon prioritizes transparency and honesty regarding what he's working on or towards. He wants fans to be excited for what's coming but wants them to also recognize that things can change and projects can be canceled.

With that in mind, here's what Cawthon has to say regarding the in-the-works Five Nights at Freddy's AAA game:

"There is a BIG deal in the works to create an incredible big-budget game! I can’t reveal any details yet as this project is still in its planning stages, but I’m working closely with the studio involved to ensure that it delivers what (I think) FNAF fans will want to see!"

If Cawthon says that he's working on a big-budget, AAA game with another studio, then fans should expect something special. As far as the mysterious studio is concerned, don't be surprised if Five Nights At Freddy's fans do some detective work and figure it out in the months to come.

As for Cawthon's personal FNAF game, he doesn't have much more information to share beyond a name: Five Nights at Freddy's: Into Madness.

"This is the next game that I want to work on myself someday, a compilation of several previous gameplay ideas in the same vein as Update 2; just a free game for the fanbase. There isn’t a guarantee that it will happen though; I’m still recovering from the first four years! :)"

With everything else Cawthon is working on, Into Madness may be on the back burner. Still, Cawthon has been known to dedicate himself to a new project until it's finished, so maybe Into Madness isn't as far off as implied.

Beyond both the Five Nights at Freddy's AAA game and Into Madness, there are a couple big updates unrelated to the games. First off, Cawthon has announced that he's started over on the FNAF movie script. Cawthon, the film's director, and the production company were apparently ready to move forward on a previous iteration of the script, but Cawthon has since decided he was unhappy with it and has gone back to the drawing board. There's no word yet on if the project is at risk as a result, but Cawthon is moving forward on his current script nonetheless.

Finally, Cawthon announced a new book series for Five Nights at Freddy's that's separate from the previous series that adapted the games. The new series, which will be a total of five books, will each feature several short horror stories and is about 20% complete. The short stories will each take place within the FNAF universe but will feature unique characters and plots. Some will be tied to the games, but others will be entirely original.

To sum everything up, Scott Cawthon has a ton of Five Nights at Freddy's projects in the works but none of them are particularly far along. Good things come to fans who are patient, though.
