The Five Nights at Freddy's series is known for putting players in the position of the security guard; making them supervise haunted animatronics in order to make sure they don't break in and kill them before their shift is over at 6 AM. While the different games in the FNAF franchise add new mechanics and features in order to spice things up and give players new challenges from title to title, Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach raises the stakes and gives fans an entire location to explore.

As gamers explore Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex they need to keep their wits about them as it seems the animatronics are allowed to roam the entire complex at night; even the dark catacombs underneath the building itself if a sequence with Glamrock Chica is to be believed. With how the entire restaurant is used in Five Nights At Freddy's: Security Breach, there are many ways to hide from the animatronics. One in particular, however, seems to be taking a note from FNAF 2.

The Mask in Five Nights at Freddy's 2

Five Nights At Freddy's 2 Mangled

One of the items players were given on their first security guard shift in the second title was an empty Freddy Fazbear head from one of the suits. It's used in place of the first game's famous doors and stops plenty of the FNAF characters in their tracks. Many fans thought the mechanic was interesting and got a good scare out of how some animatronics would get nice and close in order to investigate their disguise. Some robots would even rip the fake head off if the mask wasn't put on at the precise moment.

In Security Breach, players have a wider area to explore than just sitting in an office, so notably, some mechanics needed a few tweaks. Steel Wool Studios, the developers behind the new title, made it so that players control an entire robot suit and travel around the venue while avoiding the animatronics nearby. It proves to be an interesting mechanic, and it promises a fair deal of potential in how the feature is implemented. There may be animatronics that can see through the disguise and other neat additions to the feature that could end up working in more lore from the Five Nights at Freddy's series.

The Potential For A FNAF 3 Easter Egg

One way that the wearable animatronic suit in Security Breach could raise the stakes a tad on the mechanic is by using a tiny feature found in Five Nights at Freddy's 3. The game went into the details of how William Afton, known as the Purple Guy, died at the hands of an animatronic malfunction. It was due to the spring locks on his suit failing, stabbing him to death, and creating Springtrap.

Since this is the fate of those using an animatronic that doubles as a suit, there's a chance that a mechanic regarding those parts could make the use of the suit in Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach a bit trickier. It could be that players need to avoid exposing the suit or risk getting a game over by dying to the spring locks. The return of this part of FNAF's lore could add a challenge to the game's stealth sections and prove to be a fun detail for dedicated fans to catch.

Not much of this new suit has been shown off beyond the latest trailer, so how the feature actually works will remain to be seen once more details are shared, or the full game releases. At the very least, with such a big location like Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex to explore, fans will have plenty of fun features and mechanics to mess with and it will likely explore more of the franchise's lore.

Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach releases on December 16, 2021 for PC, PS4, and PS5.
