While the first couple of Five Nights at Freddy's entries skyrocketed the series and its creator Scott Cawthon to overnight stardom in the horror gaming world, thanks in part to YouTube content creator Markiplier and Twitch streamers playing through the scary games, the series kind of dropped off the radar for some. However, last year's Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach saw a return to the indie franchise with a new installment that has more advanced visuals, open-world mechanics, and a new story. Fans of the latest game may also be pleased to hear that a collector's edition is on the way.

PS4 and PS5 owners will be able to get hold of this new edition of Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach this fall, which will be available exclusively through Maximum Games, and pre-orders are now being taken on the website. At the time of writing, no specific release date has been given other than it will be coming after the summer period. The Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach Collector's Edition will include a Vanny vinyl figure, a 12-inch Sun and Moon Daycare Attendant reversible plush, a four-piece plush pin set, a Mr. Hippo magnet, a collectible Mega Pizzaplex Box, and a SteelBook case, as well as a copy of the game.

It is undoubtedly Five Nights At Freddy's creepy animatronics that make the series so well known. In the original games, players were tasked with keeping a watchful eye on the possessed mascots through CCTV screens, while also trying to protect themselves from attack. While this mechanic was eventually switched up in later entries, the idea of not being caught by the animatronics has been the mainstay of each game, and Security Breach adds to that by opening up the world and giving the robotic antagonists more personality and animation.

The first installment was released back in 2014 and has since become one of the most successful indie horror games in recent history, sitting alongside the likes of Outlast, Layers of Fear, and Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Although Cawthon was involved in some controversy last year, the series continued unabated, and the latest entry attempts to breathe new life into the FNAF universe.

What also makes the series interesting is that Five Nights at Freddy's has pretty deep lore, as well as a convoluted timeline, showing that its creator put quite a lot of work into the backstory rather than just creating a throwaway horror series. It remains to be seen whether a new game will be developed, but fans will no doubt be interested in seeing where the story can go from here.

Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach is available now on PC, PS4, and PS5. The Collector's Edition will be coming to PS4 and PS5 this fall.
