The first graphical enhancement mod for Bethesda's RPG Fallout 4 releases, removing the sepia tone and making the game look brighter and more vibrant.

Just one day after the release of Fallout 4, one talented fan has already put together a mod with the purpose of enhancing the game's graphics. Nexus Mods user Razed developed the mod using ReShade and SweetFX Preset in order to make Bethesda's newly developed wasteland a brighter, more colorful looking area.

According to the mod's description, the goal of the "Enhanced Wasteland Preset" was to add slightly more vibrance to the environment of Fallout 4, in order to make it look less "washed out". The mod has been downloaded nearly 18,000 times so far, suggesting that many players agree with Razed that the world should be a brighter place, despite its apocalyptic setting. The mod also changes some of the game's visual settings in order to make the world look clearer. The video below shows footage of the enhanced Fallout 4 experience.

Even before the game's release, players were complaining to the company about the state of Fallout 4's graphics, particularly on the lack of detail on the environments and character models. Instead of making the game look as pleasing as several other current-gen titles, Bethesda chose to focus more on creating an immersive open-world environment, filled with interesting characters and new additions to the classic Fallout gameplay. This sparked a number of debates about whether or not looking aesthetically pleasing was important in modern games. And whilst Fallout 4 doesn't look as good as titles such as Arkham Knight, the game itself is by no means ugly.

Despite the graphical complaints, Fallout 4 has proven to be incredibly popular, beating GTA V's record by having the most players in-game on Steam at one time. What's more, Fallout is also sitting in 1st on the "Top Sellers" chart, despite significant discounts being placed on popular games such as Rocket League, The Witcher 3, and the aforementioned GTA V. The season pass for Fallout 4 is currently 3rd on the list.

To get the "Enhanced Wasteland Preset" mod, simply download the files here and then unzip and just drop them into the game’s install folder in your Steam directory. To find the install folder, find your Steam directory in your hard drive and go to steamapps\common\Fallout 4. No files are replaced there's no need to worry about backing anything up. Then just boot up the game as normal and look to the top left hand corner of the screen where you'll see some text letting you know that the mod is installed. Then just enjoy the enriched Fallout 4 experience.

Fallout 4 is now available on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
