Gift-giving is a new feature that was added in Fire Emblem: Three Houses, so it's only natural this would be included in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. With a grand cast of characters, a little gift can be just enough to get to the next Rank of a Support. However, each character has their own likes and dislikes. Giving someone the wrong gift will just be a waste of gold if nothing else.

The gifts in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes can't be picked off the ground like the Lost Items in Three Houses. Players will have to buy them from the Item Shopkeeper in the Camp's Marketplace. In the beginning, it may be best to hold off on buying too many gifts since gold will be limited. Although, if players are consistent with getting S-rankings, then they'll have more money to burn. The best way of getting Three Hopes' gifts is for players to look at their Support Log.

How To Get Gifts

With the new Camp Facilities feature, the number of gifts available at the start of Chapter 4 will be very limited. Likewise, getting rarer gifts requires building on the Item Shopkeeper. Also note that despite being able to select a House to join after the Prologue, it's impossible to give gifts until the hub world (i.e: the Camp) is unlocked. Unlike Byleth, Three Hopes does not give Shez any freedom in Garreg Mach Monastery.

To get gifts, simply open the map with the R button and scroll to the bottom to find Item Shopkeeper in the Facility tab. Press A to fast-travel and speak to the merchant. He'll not only sell gifts but food as well, so stock up if necessary. Gifts are indicated by their red present box icon. Note that Shez cannot give food/ingredients (indicated by tomato or fish icon) to their allies. They can, however, use ingredients in cooking a character's favorite dish to boost the Support level. Players will also, on occasion, receive a gift item for completing a mission.

The truth is that gifts are only used to give some support points and increase the mood of a Unit. There are other ways to improve support and mood whether that's training with the Training Instructor, doing Chores, or Cooking. Characters will also get support points simply by fighting alongside one another (as adjuncts) during battle.

What To Buy First

As part of Three Hopes' "tutorial," players will be tasked with giving a gift to their House Leader (i.e: Edelgard, Dimitri, or Claude). The choice here is a Floral Adornment, which all House Leaders neither like nor dislike. Unfortunately, the House Leaders' preferred gifts are not readily available, meaning players will want to improve the facilities later on.

Before giving a gift, check the character's Likes and Dislikes. This can be viewed by going into the menu and selecting Unit Information. Then, use ZL or RL to scroll to Profile. Each gift has a description that hints at what type of person it should be given to, so read that before choosing. For example, the Watering Can gift is liked by people who like to garden or like flowers. Give it to someone who has "Flowers" or "Gardening" in their Likes to get Support points. For this case, players will want to avoid giving Watering Cans to characters like Caspar or Raphael.

Most of these gifts are more common and are well-liked by more than one character. They're also the first available as well, so stock up on them before the next chapter. The more the Item Shopkeeper's stall gets expanded, the more gifts (such as the Coffee Beans and Exotic Spices) will be up for grabs.

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is set to release worldwide for Nintendo Switch on June 24, 2022.
