Pegasus Knights and Wyvern Riders are two Classes that excel in airborne combat. These units could bypass terrain effects and had the largest Movement out of all Classes. Once a Pegasus Knight or Wyvern Rider Class was mastered, players could use a Class Seal to turn a unit from a Pegasus Knight/Wyvern Rider to a Falcon Knight/Wyvern Lord. Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes allows more customization for units than the previous Fire Emblem Warriors game, meaning flying units can become powerful fighters when they have the right build.

Of course, not every unit is fit to fly a pegasus or wyvern in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. True to most Fire Emblem games, Pegasus Knights/Falcon Knights are a female-exclusive Class whereas Wyvern Riders/Wyvern Lords are not gender-exclusive. Depending on a unit's stat growth, the flying Classes may be worth mastering in Three Hopes.

Both Classes share similarities in that they're flying units and can be dismounted during battle. They're both extremely weak to bows, but they can fly over areas indicated by a "wing" icon on the map. They're especially useful when having to chase down thieves or messengers. The differences come in their stat builds and their main weapons.

There's also, again, the fact that only female units are capable of acquiring a Pegasus Knight/Falcon Knight Class. However, if female Shez and female Byleth master these Classes, the exclusive Abilities can be carried over to their male counterparts in a New Game Plus. Unfortunately, that is not the case for other units.

Pegasus Knight and Falcon Knight

As a unit, Pegasus Knights and Falcon Knights Dexterity, Speed, and Resistance. Their Defense is rather poor, and their Strength is not as high as their wyvern counterparts. A Pegasus/Falcon Knight's main weapon in Three Hopes is a lance, which is strong against sword-wielders, but weak against axes.

Their Class Abilities are Alert Stance and Sword Buster Lv 2 (Pegasus Knight), and Alert Stance+ and Sword Buster Lv4 (Falcon Knight). In Three Houses, Alert Stance would grant +15 Avoidance if a unit chose to Wait instead of attacking. In Three Hopes, Alert Stance extends the invincibility window when the Pegasus Knight/Falcon Knight dodges. Sword Buster increases the damage against enemies equipped with swords by 85% (lv2) and 95% (lv4).

Mastering these Classes will unlock different Abilities based on the character. However, most units will learn Tableturner (Pegasus Knight) and Muster (Falcon Knight). These have the same effects as the Class Ability, Alert Stance(+), but can be equipped if a unit changes Class. For example, Ingrid mastering the Pegasus Knight Class gives her the following Abilities: Pegasus Knight's Wisdom, Tableturner, and Stormblade. Once these Abilities are learned, Ingrid could change to another Class (such as a Bow Knight) and equip one of those three Abilities in the "Set Abilities" tab in the Convoy.

Before units can become a Falcon Knight in Three Hopes, they'll need to master either the Cavalier or Pegasus Knight, which is an Intermediate Class. Then, they'll have to master the Paladin (Advanced) Class. On a first playthrough, Master Seals can't be purchased or found on the War Map until Part 2. Meaning it might be a while before a unit can grow into a Falcon Knight.

Wyvern Rider and Wyvern Lord

As the opposite to the Pegasus Knight Classes, a Wyvern Rider and Wyvern Lord have better Strength and Defense but poor Resistance and Magic. This means it's best to keep them away from not only archers but Gremory and Dark Bishop enemies. Wyvern Riders/Lords use axes in battle, giving them an advantage against lances with a weakness to swords.

A Wyvern Rider's Class Ability is Lance Buster lv3, which increases damage against lances by 90%. A Wyvern Lord has Lance Buster lv4 and Grievous Blow. Lv4's damage is set to 95% instead of 90%; Grievous Blow increases the damage of critical hits.

By ranking up the Wyvern Lord Class, some units will get Howl and Nullify Flying Effect. The latter Ability is extremely useful since it will negate the Wyvern Rider/Lord's bow weakness. Unfortunately, this Ability is not available to every character. Some may learn Safeguard instead, which restores HP to an assigned adjutant. A Wyvern Rider's Abilities aren't as impressive as the Wyvern Lord's, but some units can learn Wyvern Rider's Ploy, which will break an enemy's guard when using class actions as long as one bar of the Warrior Gauge is filled.

To get the Wyvern Lord Class, master Brigand (Intermediate) and then either Warrior or Wyvern Rider (Advanced). If players want more Combat Arts for the Wyvern Rider/Lord Class, they should rank up the Armored Knight Classes.

Claude von Riegan gets a Unique Class called Barbarossa. This functions the same as the other Wyvern Classes but instead has exclusive Abilities and uses a bow as the main weapon. Unfortunately, the Barbarossa Class is still weak to arrows despite being Claude's main weapon, unless Claude has Nullify Flying Effect or an Aurora Shield equipped.

Keep in mind that units do not share the same Abilities when ranking up. Furthermore, some units have a higher proficiency with Pegasus/Wyvern Classes (indicated by the blue arrow on the Set Classes page) while others may work better when not equipped with a non-flying Class. If a unit has high Res, they might work better as a Pegasus/Falcon Knight instead of a Wyvern Rider/Lord.

If players are upgrading the Tactics Facility, then each unit can learn up to 10 Abilities. However, these are just a handful of abilities that may be worth equipping:
