It recently came to light that the critically-acclaimed Nintendo Switch exclusive Astral Chain was being review bombed on Metacritic. It appeared as though the main reason why the game's Metacritic was being flooded with negative reviews was because it's a Switch exclusive. Now another Switch-exclusive game is being review bombed, presumably for similar reasons.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses, yet another top-rated Switch game, has had its user rating drop to 6.6. This is compared to its critic rating of 89, which indicates overwhelmingly positive reviews from the press. It's unclear just how far the Fire Emblem: Three Houses user rating will fall, but it appears as though people have already started countering the negative reviews by posting perfect 10/10 scores. Just today there have been numerous 10/10 ratings given to the game, despite the fact that it came out a couple of months ago and many have turned their attention to other games.

While the exact reason why Fire Emblem: Three Houses is getting review bombed is unclear, it's suspect that the review bombing is happening around the same time as the Astral Chain review bombing. Considering the timing, it seems the most likely explanation is that the game is being targeted for simply being a Switch exclusive. However, Fire Emblem is a Nintendo-owned IP and has been for decades, so it's even more bizarre for people to expect Nintendo to release it for competing platforms.

Since one doesn't actually have play through a game to leave a Metacritic user rating, it's impossible to verify who all gave it a chance before assigning a score. The vast majority of the user reviewers have most likely never played the game, and honestly, it's possible that the same could be said for those giving the perfect scores to counter the review bombing as well.

Regardless, Fire Emblem: Three Houses is a massive game that has earned top marks from publications all over the world. The game's popularity has inspired memes and has had people express a desire to see a Harry Potter game made in the same style. While there are certainly people who legitimately dislike it, giving it a 0/10 just doesn't make sense.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses is out now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
