Fire Emblem Heroes has been one of Nintendo's most consistently performing mobile games since it launched in 2017, providing players numerous ongoing storylines that feature characters across the 30-year-old RPG series. A mech-themed Book 5 launched in Fire Emblem Heroes this month, setting its latest adventure in an adaptation of the mythological Norse realm Nidavellir, and soon players will get their hands on 2020's unique winter-themed characters.

As with many of its gacha game contemporaries, limited-time seasonal units are a big moneymaking draw for Fire Emblem Heroes. Every year, holidays like Halloween and New Year's are celebrated in Heroes' primary setting of Askr, with often-powerful alternate forms of units to match. This year's winter holiday units were announced last night, featuring characters from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, and the newest release Fire Emblem: Three Houses.

Sephiran from Path of Radiance is an armored, colorless staff unit with an AOE healing effect for allies, whereas Radiant Dawn's Altina is a sword-wielding Harmonized Hero alongside Path of Radiance's Sanaki (meaning they can cast a buff for characters from both titles once per battle). From Three Houses comes holiday-themed variants of fan-favorite characters Bernadetta and Hilda, joining other pre-time skip versions of themselves in Fire Emblem Heroes.

The 2020 holiday-themed summoning event, called A Festive Miracle, will begin tonight at 11:00 p.m. PT, and last until January 16, 2021. Fans of Three Houses can also receive a special variant of Blue Lions representative Felix as part of an upcoming Tempest Trials+ event, though a standard version of the character is not currently available.

Fire Emblem Heroes is available now on Android and iOS devices.
