Dating back to 1990 with the Japan-exclusive release of Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, the Fire Emblem franchise is one of the most iconic series of tactical RPGs. Fans and critics alike praise its characters and "perma-death" mechanic. While the franchise was initially exclusive to Japanese audiences, localization began in 2003 with the release of Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade.
