There's more to getting stronger in Fire Emblem Engage than just leveling up; players need to use Master Seals in order to upgrade their characters from Base Classes to Advanced Classes. These Advanced Classes have access to stronger skills and better stats, making them vital to progression as players get further along into the story of the new Fire Emblem Game. There are a few different ways to get Master Seals, and players would do well to familiarize themselves with these different methods since they will need a Master Seal every time they want to upgrade a character's class.

Using Master Seals to change classes is not new to Fire Emblem Engage. This method of character growth has been in several Fire Emblem games in the past, but the method of getting Master Seals can be pretty different. In this entry, there are two main ways to get Master Seals, either by buying them or earning them from certain missions.

The first and most straightforward way to get Master Seals is to simply buy them. These can be purchased from the Item Shop at Somniel for 2500 Gold, a hefty price but well worth it. Stock of Master Seals is limited at the start, but this stock will refresh after players complete chapters 13 and 17. Finally, clearing Chapter 18 will remove stock limitations, allowing players to purchase infinite Master Seals.

Alternatively, players looking to save some money can instead tackle certain missions to get Master Seals. Specifically, completing Chapters 7, 10, 16, and 17 rewards a Master Seal, and more Master Seals can be found in chests in Chapter 7 and Paralogue: Mysterious Merchant.

Now that players have Master Seals, they may be wondering how to use them. Master Seals can be used to upgrade a character from a Base Class to an Advanced Class, but only if that character meets the prerequisites. Every Advanced Class requires a character to be level 10 in a Base Class and have certain weapon proficiencies. Once these prerequisites are met, players can simply use the Master Seal to change classes.

Players can always change classes, so using a Master Seal isn't a permanent choice like picking Alear's gender in Fire Emblem Engage. It's worth noting that Master Seals cannot be used to switch between two different Base Classes or two different Advanced Classes. Players wanting to do this will need a different item called a Second Seal. These are acquired in mostly the same way, albeit through different missions.
