As more information about Fire Emblem Engage comes pouring in, more is being revealed about the game's world, plot, and characters. It was recently revealed that the main continent where Fire Emblem Engage takes place—Elyos—is home to four main nations that surround a central holy land. These kingdoms each have their own motivations that will influence the overarching plot of the game. The Fire Emblem series has always made political turmoil an ever present part of its stories, so looking at the information revealed about these new nations may give some indication as to how they will affect the story of Fire Emblem Engage.

From the information revealed so far, it's clear that a web of alliances binds many of these nations together. The greatest point of conflict among Fire Emblem Engage's factions is whether a nation worships the Divine Dragon or the Fell Dragon. The land of Elyos was attacked by the Fell Dragon over 1,000 years ago, which prompted the first use of the Emblem Rings to summon the heroes of old to aid in its defeat. Since this time, it appears some nations have aligned themselves with the Divine Dragon—the savior of their land—while others with the powerful scourge that is the Fell Dragon.

Land of Lythos

The holy land at the center of the continent of Elyos is called Lythos. This land is ruled by the Divine Dragon King, Lumera, who is also the mother of the game's protagonist, Alear. As a Divine Dragon, Alear is revered by nations who worship them, and reviled by nations who serve the fell Dragon. The Land of Lythos is home to those who act in service of the Divine Dragon, and it seems like many of the game's initial allies will come from this nation. Of the revealed characters, Vander, Framme, and Cramme are residents of Lythos and servants of the Divine Dragon.

Kingdom of Firene

Firene is prosperous nation of peaceful inhabitants located in the southwest of the continent of Elyos. Said to be a philanthropic nation, Firene has good relations with the neighboring countries of Brodia and Solm due to a non-aggression pact signed between the three nations. Citizens of Firene worship the Divine Dragon and as such, are willing to pledge service to Alear and aid them on their quest. Characters from Firene include Alfred, Prince of the kingdom, and his sister, Princess Celine, as well as Louis, Chloe, Etie, and Boucheron.

Kingdom of Brodia

Brodia is a nation of military might that favors strength above peace. Located in the northwestern region of Elyos, its citizens enjoy the prosperity that comes with conquest and are loyal to the Divine Dragon. Due to its militaristic nature, Brodia often finds itself in conflict with the neighboring nation of Elusia. Despite this aggression toward Elusia, Brodia's commitment to the Divine Dragon lands it among the alliance with Firene and Solm. Characters from Brodia include the two princes, Diamant and Alcryst.

Solm

Solm is a nation that calls the deserts of southeast Elyos its home. Said to be an open-minded nation, Solm tends to remain neutral in conflicts and values freedom above all else. Although they claim neutrality, Solm pledges its support to Alear as devout followers of the Divine Dragon and a member of the alliance with Firene and Brodia. Characters from Solm include Princess Timerra and Prince Fogato.

Elusia

Not much is known about the nation of Elusia, which controls the snowy reaches of northeast Elyos. As worshipers of the Fell Dragon, Elusia finds itself at odds with the other nations of Elyos and stands as an obstacle in Alear's journey. Their devotion to the Fell Dragon seemingly sets them up as one of the primary antagonists in the overarching plot of Fire Emblem Engage. Characters from Elusia include the two princesses, Ivy and Hortensia. However, they have connections to other shadowy figures who seek to resurrect the Fell Dragon.

Fire Emblem Engage releases January 20, 2023 for Nintendo Switch.
