Final Fantasy XIII, one of the biggest RPG's releases on March 9, 2010 in North America and Europe and is currently available in Japan. However on Neogaf's forum there was mention of a recent interview in this month's Dutch Playstation Magazine with the producer of the game, Yoshinori Kitase, he talks life past launch for Square-Enix's newest title.

Kitase states:

"At first we had plans to release the game simultaneously worldwide, so we had the intention to deliver identical version between the regions. When we noticed that we wouldn't make it, we decided to release the game as fast as possible in the west after its release in Japan. We initially had doubts to add extra content to the western version but then it would have taken the international version more months of delay. We did prepare a DLC but it will arrive a little later in the west."

Earlier this month, andriasang.com reported that Square-Enix cut an entire game's worth of material from the final cut. Those items inculde:

  • A full area surrounding Lightning's home.
  • A secret base for a resistance group known as Nora.
  • Nautiuls Park, which is in the game, at one point had a zoo.

Adding DLC to what already looks to be a great game is going to extend the life of this game tremendously. I guess only time will tell what kind of ride Square-Enix will send us on.

Do you think they will add the cut material as their DLC or add something completely new?
