The Final Fantasy VII Remake truly feels like a gift from the gaming gods. Existing in a world where such an ambitious reimagining was created makes a gamer feel better for the medium. The massive campaign expands a five-hour chunk of the original RPG into a 40-hour epic. When things are magnified to such an extent, however, one starts to see logical fallacies within the armor.

Many fans look past these and see it as just more quirks of the world, but those less accustomed to JRPGs may not be able to ignore these plot holes so easily. Fortunately, none of the 10 items below lessen the game's quality.

10 How Does No One Recognize Avalanche?

Every citizen of Midgar looks like a normal person, which makes the party's outfits all the more uncanny. Shinra are scouring the city for terrorists who just blew up a piece of their property, yet they never think to question the people who look like anime characters carrying deadly weapons. Maybe Midgar has really lax gun laws and it's totally normal to see people walking around with giant swords.

9 The Story For Newcomers

Veteran fans of the PS1 game have a slight advantage when coming into this journey. Even though the new title is friendly to newcomers, some scenes are hard to appreciate without knowing the source material. When Sephiroth first shows up, he gives no indication of his goal. Even as the credits roll, new players are still left in the dark as to his motives.

8 Chadley

The Shinra intern who helps Cloud somehow ends up a few steps ahead of the party and waits for them. After running into him so many times, the party should start to grow suspicious, but he earns their trust with all the Material they give him. Even after the revelation about his character comes to light, many facets of his existence and mechanic in the game do not add up.

7 Endless Highway Motorbike Chase

Chapter 18 starts off with a thrilling motorbike chase. Cloud first fights off some Shinra guards before a boss shows up. Fans of the original expected this segment, though the boss was originally fought in a traditional battle.

Depending on one's efficiency, the segment can run anywhere between 10 and 20 minutes. However, the stretch of highway does not end until they beat the boss. If one dodges the boss and does no damage, this segment can potentially go on forever.

6 Aerith's House At Night

Aerith's house

One segment tasks Cloud with sneaking out of Aerith's house in the middle of the night without waking anybody up. For some reason, Elmyra and Aerith stack up all the chairs and clutter the hallway when they go to sleep, making maneuvering through the house difficult. Maybe they do it for security, so anyone who breaks in will undoubtedly stir them awake. Fortunately, the segment becomes easier with each attempt.

5 Avalanche In The Shinra Building

After breaking into the Shinra Building, the members of Avalanche seem to just waltz around the upper floors of the skyscraper without alerting the security forces. A guard even recognizes Cloud and interacts with him while the other party members stand beside him and no red flags go up. It is a huge building, but one would think the corporation's security would be airtight.

4 Summons

Summons come into play significantly earlier for the party than in the original game. Cloud earns his first Summon almost immediately and can soon earn more by fighting them in the VR arena. Shinra studies Mako and Materia, but building Summon Materia seems like a stretch. If this is the case, what is to stop every member of SOLDIER or even normal troopers from having Ifrit or Shiva? Maybe it still takes a degree of skill to actually use the creatures after making the Materia.

3 Characters' Varying Abilities

In cinematics, characters accomplish a variety of athletic feats. However, they are unable to do similar things in gameplay. Gaps they should be able to easily jump across are all of a sudden impassible chasms.

Resolving the two would be difficult, and it leads to some unintentional hilarity. Even in different cutscenes, their abilities change. Why couldn't Cloud simply pull himself up instead of falling into the Sector 5 slums. Near the end of the game, Barret is held up at gunpoint. Why would one bullet scare him when he has taken so much damage before? Surely one bullet is not worth several thousand damage.

2 The Plate Crashing Down

One landmark moment of the game is the Sector 7's collapse. In the original game, it pancakes the slums. In Final Fantasy VII Remake, huge bits of debris hit various parts of the town below without squashing the residential area completely. The plate is a solid piece of land and falls down on top of the slums, yet most of the it seems intact after the event.

1 Hojo's Plan To Breed Aerith

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Hojo

Aerith is already half of Ancient, since her dad was a human. Hojo plans to breed her with a SOLDIER in order to continue researching the group. However, is one still considered an Ancient if their last full-blooded Ancient kin was their grandmother? Is researching them still worthwhile if they are several generations removed? At least it is more logically sound than in the original where Hojo wanted Aerith to mate with Red XIII, the mere thought of which repulses fans.
