Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is just a couple months away from launch, with fans eager to see it in its full capacity. Now, Square Enix has revealed Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin's official box art, looking reminiscent of previous artwork while integrating new ideas as well.

When Final Fantasy Origin was announced at E3 2021, it was met with mixed reception from fans and critics alike. While the notion of a prequel to the classic Final Fantasy is an interesting premise, Stranger of Paradise's edgy aesthetic was a turn-off for many, being a pretty heavy tonal clash from the original title. One scene from Final Fantasy Origin's latest demo had fans reeling, the protagonist, Jack, totally dismissing another character's heartfelt backstory, then proceeding to walk away with their music playing. As an action-RPG, players will be able to customize Jack and their party, but with fast-paced gameplay and even some multiplayer components as well.

Final Fantasy Origin's box art has been officially revealed, featuring the primary cast of characters. The faces of the main Warriors of Light of Jack, Jed, Ash, and the recently introduced Neon, can be seen in a variety of cross images, some showing their eyes and hair, while others complete the face with their nose and mouse. These images are arranged to create the silhouette of none other than Garland himself, whose armored helmet can be clearly seen to the right of the logo. This design sits on the classic Final Fantasy white background, creating a crisp and somewhat nostalgic image

Interestingly, of the Warriors of Light, Jack's face is the only to be filtered completely in red, with the other party members having relatively normal, if not a bit dark, color palettes. Jack as certified himself as an angry protagonist in the veins of Kratos who in all of the appearances so far, has one goal in mind—killing Chaos—and never expresses himself too much in any other way. Previous key art for Final Fantasy Origin shows Jack in a similarly red filter, though the linework is a bit more wispy and chaotic, as opposed to the renders that are being in the official box art.

By putting the Warriors of Light and Garland on the box art, it can be assumed that these are the most important characters in Final Fantasy Origin, though they are not the only cast members. Recent screenshots showed off many other Final Fantasy Origin characters including the King and Queen of Cornelia, Sarah and Mia, the Princesses of Cornelia, and a pirate named Bikke, who was present in the original game but not very prominently. It will be interesting to see where this story goes so that it can properly lead into the original Final Fantasy.

Strangers of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin launches March 18, 2022, on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
