Throughout the Final Fantasy series, there have always been incredibly hard bosses, and yes, that means even in Final Fantasy 1. These bosses could be massive in size or sometimes as tiny as an adult human

The forms of many of the superbosses are different, but a few are a staple to the series. This means their designs don't change much because of the homage shared between the games. But some of the designs are unique, and when fighting or seeing them for the first time, the words "Is this even possible?" will be the first thought that springs to mind.

10 Ruby Weapon

Ruby Weapon is one of the many unleashed weapons created by the planet in Final Fantasy 7, and this one is one of the hardest bosses in the game, along with its brother Emerald Weapon. There have been a few superbosses in previous renditions of Final Fantasy, but nothing the likes of Ruby Weapon with his 800k HP.

Back when Final Fantasy 7 was first released, people had to acquire the best materia but this took an insane amount of grinding to do so. Nowadays, with W-Summon Hades, and HP absorb materia paired with Knights of the Round Table, then using mime, you can win in a few minutes.

Maybe even using Cait Sith's limit break, getting lucky with the slots and getting Game Over, which is an instant kill no matter the boss. Either or, this boss can average about 10 minutes total.

9 Omega Weapon

This weapon is a staple of the Final Fantasy games and appears in quite a few of them. In this case, it's from Final Fantasy 8. Omega Weapon appears in the last area of the game, but only by solving a puzzle. This is an incredibly difficult fight if you're not prepared, as many hero drinks and auras are needed, but also by abusing the limit break system. Roughly, it'll take 15-20 minutes to kill this boss.

Though speedrunning strategies are possible to kill Omega Weapon in the space of a few minutes, however, the speedrun has a set of extremely tight rules. For example, Selphie has to be LVL 18, as this is the best level to get the ultimate magic 'The End' to appear more often. The End is like Cait Sith's game over spell, as it kills bosses instantly.

8 Ozma

Ozma is shaped like a ball and is a genuinely horrible superboss in Final Fantasy 9,  but he also has a unique color scheme, as one hemisphere is light, the other is dark, and they rotate differently to each other. This fight is 90% RNG based, and it's complete luck what moves he'll choose. If Ozma feels like it, he'll ruin everything by using Meteor, and its 99% of the time an instant wipe.

Compared to other superboss' health, Ozma only has 55,535 because who needs HP when the fight is so heavily luck-based? On average, with a good setup, Ozma can be killed in about 10-15 minutes. However, with fantastic preparation, it can be shorter.

7 Penance

Final Fantasy Hardest Bosses Penance

This superboss appears after all of the Dark Aeons have been defeated, and that alone is no easy feat. Penance has to be selected from the travel location menu from inside the ship, as he's above the Calm Lands.

This guy has a staggering 12,000,00 HP, accompanied by two arms with 500k apiece, and after being killed will revive after a few turns. Final Fantasy 10 was the first game to break the health and damage threshold, and 9999 is not the cap anymore, so of course, Penance's ultimate attack deals 99,999 in damage. Adding insult to injury, he steals 999 of your MP.

On average, this boss could take up to 25-30 minutes to kill, but people have managed to shorten that down to about two minutes by summoning Aeon Yojimbo. By paying Yojimbo exuberant amounts of money, he can use his instant kill ability Zanmato! Or sometimes he won't.

6 Yiazmat

Final Fantasy Hardest Bosses Yiazmat

Oh boy, this fight, Yiazmat is the final ultimate elite mark in Final Fantasy 12, and the version of the fight is dependant on how easy he is to kill. As the Zodiac versions of the game break the damage limit so attacks can cause more than 9999 damage, but in the normal versions, the amount is still capped. Out of all the superbosses is the entirety of Final Fantasy, none have more health than Yiazmat, with a whopping 50,112,254.

Without the speed toggle, this fight can easily last over an hour, but with perfect knowledge of how to kill it, and with the speed toggle, the battle can be over in under 10 minutes.

5 Shinryu

In the last dungeon before the final boss ExDeath, there is a specific chest that, if you open it, the Dragon God Shinryu will appear and trigger a boss battle. For those unbeknownst about this chest, it can cause a significant problem, as the last save point is a fair distance away.

However, for those who are ready for the Dragon God, most of his strongest attacks can be absorbed by the player, which means survivability. His health is only 55,500, so people have managed to do this one in under three minutes, but on average, it's about 15 minutes for this one.

4 Vercingetorix

How to pronounce that name aside, this boss is the final Cie'th Stone mission in Final Fantasy 13 and has a whopping 16 million health. Though, out of all the superbosses, this one is one of the easiest to kill. Poison is the best method to execute this Cie'th monster, as it causes major damage to it, and this tactic can be used to kill Vercingetorix in under five minutes.

But if poison is not the tactic you want to use, and you're more dignified, then the fight will be trickier but is still doable in under 10 minutes.

3 Omega

It returns, but this time, an homage to the one in Final Fantasy 5. Final Fantasy 15 has a fair few superbosses, but this is the hardest. However, when compared to other bosses HP, this one only has 555,300. What it lacks in health it makes up for in pure unbridled defense.

It has a resistance of 99% to all weapons about from Royal Arms, and only lightning magic will damage it. Any other magic is 99% resisted and light magic it absorbs. Even when you think you're doing well, one move and it could easily end up with a party wipe.

This fight can quickly take over an hour to destroy, but with a perfect strategy, it'll take a bit over 20 minutes.

2 Trema

Ever wanted to fight two superbosses one after the other without any health restored in between? Well, bring out Trema from Final Fantasy 10-2. Once Paragon has been defeated, Trema will appear, and this is the first superboss that is human in size and shape. However, don't be fooled by his appearance. He's rocking a hefty 999,999 HP, has insane magic spells and attacks fast.

This boss fight has been defeated, both Paragon and Trema in two minutes. However, even though the boss fight was short, the grinding and time getting to be that strong would have taken a lot. An average time to kill this boss is about 10 minutes.

1 WarMECH

This boss is unique, not by design nor difficulty, but purely by random chance. That's right; there is a 3 in 64 chance to find this death machine as a random encounter, which means if you struggle it kill it once, there is a slim chance it'll appear once more.

People have mistaken this enemy as a simple one that can easily be killed. However, generally, in every encounter, WarMECH will preemptively strike you, and then fear will sink in. This superboss has the lowest amount of HP has a measly 2000, but it also restores 5% of that every round, so if your DPS is horrible, you won't destroy this machine.

It's possible to kill this boss in under 2 minutes, but the average is over 10 minutes unprepared.
