The adorable creatures known as the Moogles first appeared in Final Fantasy III (note: this is the true numbering of the game in which they first appeared and not the altered Western numbering.) They have taken on many forms over the years both literally and figuratively. Their designs differ along with their implementation in the main games and spinoffs.

For example, they are couriers in Final Fantasy IX and act as synthesis workers in Kingdom Hearts. Whatever their jobs may be, one thing is guaranteed: they are usually too cute for words. Next to Chocobos, they are the series’ second iconic mascot. Here are some of the many interpretations fans have drawn to show their love for these adorable creatures.

10 The Legend Of Moogle

What if Square Enix joined up with Nintendo to make a crossover game? It could be like Final Fantasy Tactics wherein Moogles would assume jobs based on classic Nintendo characters.

Link from The Legend of Zelda is a fine example for a warrior like class. That’s what this art brings to mind. This piece of fan art was created by Archaical and was placed on DeviantArt.

9 Metal Gear Moogle

This is another fun crossover that Square Enix could easily do with more PlayStation centric heroes. This Moogle dressed up as Old Snake from Metal Gear Solid 4 is both adorable and badass.

The exclamation point fused with the typical Moogle bob is a stroke of genius. This piece of fan art was created by HeavyMetalHanzo and was placed on DeviantArt.

8 Moogremlins

Let’s get away from the cute and instead look at a more realistic interpretation of a Moogle. This one kind of looks like a Moogle crossed with a Gremlin from the film of the same name.

Besides the wild fur, the knives and crazed look in its eyes make it actually look creepier than a Gremlin. This piece of fan art was created by Hot-Potato and was placed on DeviantArt.

7 Moogle Mirage VII

This is a fun collage of the Final Fantasy VII cast reimagined as Moogles. The only exception is Cait Sith as it already controlled a giant Moogle. Anyway, two of these revisions stand out the most.

Red XIII looks great like some kind of pig and Vincent has a nice dichotomy of cute and menacing. This piece of fan art was created by MichaelMayne and was placed on DeviantArt.

6 Stuffed

This looks like it was ripped straight from an anime version of Final Fantasy VI. Since Netflix is green lighting so many video games into shows, both live action and cartoons, they should add that idea to the mix.

It’s about time Final Fantasy got another shot at a full anime season. Anyway, anime wishes aside, Terra hugging the Moogle is just a charming drawing. This piece of fan art was created by Nick-Kazama and placed on DeviantArt.

5 Moogle Mage

Going back to Final Fantasy Tactics, the Moogles in that game took on many Jobs. Mages, of course, were one of them. This piece of fan art imagines what a more traditional Moogle would look like in a Black Mage’s gear.

What was the result? The most huggable Black Mage ever created. This piece of fan art was created by Paleona and was placed on DeviantArt.

4 Mail By Moogle

One of the best jobs given to Moogles in the games was in Final Fantasy IX. They both acted as save points along with operating as a postal service. Forget about drones delivering packages. That’s not cute.

What would be adorable and exciting to see outside would be more Moogles like in this drawing. This piece of fan art was created by PastelStormArt and was placed on DeviantArt.

3 A Mage Of The People

It is important to note that the actual artistry of this piece is impressive. The black lines on the simple notebook make it really pop like the sort of design one would find on an album cover.

Secondly, the actual content is great wherein Vivi is rightfully relaxing with a bunch of baby Moogles and chocobos.what could be greater? Put this one on the tattoo wishlist. This piece of fan art was created by Picolo-kun and was placed on DeviantArt.

2 Moogle It

This is a common joke to make since Moogle and Google sound so much alike. Maybe Google even stole it. Whoever created the search engine that now rules the world must have been a big fan of the series.

Either way if that anime version of Final Fantasy VI ever happens, this would be a good background joke as the universe’s search engine. This piece of fan art was created by Ramy and was placed on DeviantArt.

1 Mogs Of The Ages

Last, but certainly not least, a fan collection of Square Enix’s many interpretations of Moogles. What is the best version? Easy. The ones found in Kingdom Hearts are great due to their giant heads perched atop small bodies with big noses and even bigger bobs on their heads. That is the definitive Moogle experience.

The weirdest then might be Crystal Chronicles’ as they don’t appear to have arms. This piece of fan art was created by ThePockyGirl and was placed on DeviantArt.
