Final Fantasy is one of the biggest names in the gaming industry and it's no surprise why; the franchise began back in 1987 and has a plethora of titles to its name. The series is up to its fifteenth numbered entry and has countless spin-offs, remasters, and remakes as well. Though its main series consists of RPG games, Final Fantasy has dabbled in other gaming genres too, including puzzle games, rhythm-based games, MMORPGs, third-person shooters, and more.

One of the staples of Final Fantasy is its recurring elements– whether they be themes, enemies, summons, races, or creatures– with some going on to become fan-favorites and even franchise mascots. Some of the creatures from the franchise are especially adorable, so check out the top ten cutest from the Final Fantasy franchise just below.

10 Namazu

The Namazu race was introduced in Square Enix's second MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Rebornas part of the Stormblood expansion that released in 2017. This beastmen race is a friendly tribe that focuses on crafting and gathering, and as such their beastmen quests relate to disciples of the land and hand.

This beastmen tribe has no known primal as of yet, though they are known to worship something called "The Big One." The name "Namazu" comes from the giant catfish of Japanese legend who is believed to cause earthquakes, which could also allude to who "The Big One" could be.

9 Carbuncle

Carbuncle is a recurring summon that first appeared in Final Fantasy VIt's undergone small visual changes over the years, but is generally always the same little creature that fans know & love, with a red ruby on its forehead and a long-eared rabbit-like appearance. Particularly cute appearances include Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy XI, Final Fantasy XIV, and Final Fantasy XV.

However, much to the dismay of fans, Carbuncle recently got a new look in Final Fantasy 7 Remake that did not sit well with fans, with Carbuncle being presented as something more like a terrier-dog instead.

8 Cait Sith

Cait Sith first appeared in Final Fantasy II, but it didn't find its staple design until Final Fantasy VI where it was first shown as a black and white cat with a cape. Its look is sometimes changed up depending on the title, for example in Final Fantasy XIII-2 where it reverted to an enemy, but generally, it is accepted that its most common form is its "proper look."

Interestingly, Cait Sith has appeared in the series as an enemy, a summon, an NPC, and a party member.

7 Spriggan

Spriggans appeared early on in the franchise, debuting in Final Fantasy II as an enemy monster, but the only time their appearance could be defined as "cute" was their re-design for Final Fantasy XIV. There, they are presented as adorable fuzzy black creatures that love to collect & steal rocks and gemstones.

The idea of them collecting rocks and gems is fitting with their namesake, as spriggans are fairy creatures from Cornish legend that were believed to inhabit old ruins and barrows, guarding the treasure that was held within.

6 Mammet

Mammets first appeared in Final Fantasy XI, although they were known as puppets then and came as part & parcel of the Puppetmaster job. However, these adorable little automatons re-appeared again in Final Fantasy XIV under their new name.

They appear as NPCs within the city-states, as well as enemies in certain dungeons, with the NPCs taking on the generic appearance and the dungeon variants taking on the appearance of specific classic job roles. Whether they're attacking you or not, they're still adorable.

5 Mandragora

Mandragoras are an enemy creature that first appeared in Final Fantasy VII, but didn't get their best design until Final Fantasy XI. It was in this first MMORPG in the Final Fantasy series that they became the adorable little bulb headed creatures that fans fell in love with and this became their new staple design in future titles too.

Mandragoras went on to receive variants, keeping the same body-shape, but taking on different colors or cosmetic changes. That means there's just even more of them to love.

4 Chocobo Chick

Chocobos have become one of the main mascots of the Final Fantasy franchise and they have appeared in virtually every main title in some capacity, usually as a mount for players to ride, or for treasure-hunting mini-games. These beautiful blonde birds have largely remained unchanged throughout the series, but it's the smaller Chocobo chicks, or 'chicabos' as they are known, that particularly make fans go "awwww."

'Chicabos' were first introduced in Final Fantasy VIII as part of a puzzle mini-game as well as the PocketStation game Chocobo World, but they have gone on to feature in other titles since.

3 Cactuar

Cactuars first appeared as an enemy monster in Final Fantasy VI, though they had the name "Cactrot" at the time, and they quickly became a fan favorite due to their quirky yet adorable appearance. It is believed that cactuars are based on Japanese haniwa figures as they bear a strong resemblance to them.

These cacti-looking creatures have gone on to appear in many titles since, even taking on the role of a summon in some of them too. A couple of times they have changed from their staple appearance, but their classic design is still the most loved by fans.

2 Moomba

Moombas were introduced to fans in Final Fantasy VIII as adorable red-haired creatures that resemble lions. Rather weirdly, players later discover that they are an evolved version of the Shumi race, a race which is the complete opposite of cute, and that any Shumi that doesn't become an Elder instead turns into a Moomba.

Moombas have cameoed in other Final Fantasy titles, such as featuring as one of Lulu's dolls in Final Fantasy X, and as an enemy within World of Final Fantasy.

1 Moogle

Whenever you think of Final Fantasy, you can't help but think of moogles. These little creatures have become the main mascot of the franchise and are now synonymous with the games. The moogle race first appeared in Final Fantasy III, quickly becoming adored by fans and going on to feature in most titles since in some way.

These adorable little creatures are normally depicted as small white or cream-colored beings with a pom-pom on their head and wings. Their look did get an overhaul in Final Fantasy XII where they appeared as a more rabbit-like race, but they have since returned to their classic look.
