But one trait which sets many Final Fantasy characters apart from each other is their birthdays. In particular, June, which typically marks the beginning of summer, happens to be the birth month for a few great characters from the series. From witty, happy-go-lucky pranksters to wise old men, here are some Final Fantasy characters born in June.

5 Agrias Oaks (Final Fantasy Tactics)

Born on June 22nd, the Lionsguard Knight Agrias Oaks is one of the first party members to join the party in Final Fantasy Tactics. Having met him at the Orbonne Monastery, she joins Ramza Beoulve to rescue Princess Ovelia, who was kidnapped amidst a scuffle with the Order of the Northern Sky. Naturally, this makes Agrias fiercely protective of Ovelia; she wastes no time trying to take Ovelia to a safe place upon her recovery.

In battle, Agrias bears the well-acclaimed Holy Knight job, which allows her to wield powerful holy swords, such as Save the Queen and the Coral Sword, in order to smite her foes from afar. Players can even obtain the Tynar Rouge, an item that boosts both physical and magical attacks, as a birthday present for Agrias from Mustadio. But Agrias's most dominant trait is her sense of honor, which sees her risking her life for Ovelia and anyone else in need of her help. Conversely, she strongly dislikes Ivalice's shadier nobles due to their corruption and intent to exploit her liege.

4 Cater (Final Fantasy Type-0)

A battle weary Cater smiling at the end of Final Fantasy Type-0

The liveliest member of Class Zero, Cater was born on June 20th, which happens to be a possible day for the summer solstice. Cater's blunt and hyperactive personality may prove to be a nuisance to her classmates, but deep down she truly cares for the rest of Class Zero and is willing to help those dealing with personal issues. Cater also has a strong relationship with her adoptive mother Arecia Al-Rashia, whom she depends on whenever she experiences a sense of deja-vu; her last moments even reveal that Cater wanted to travel with Arecia to the country of Concordia.

Cater's weapon of choice is a single magicite pistol, making her one of two cadets in Class Zero to wield pistols in battle. Naturally, this makes her very suitable for ranged combat, but lacking when it comes to raw strength. Her ultimate weapon, the Mtek-ZERO, can only be obtained after defeating True Gilgamesh, as is the case with the other ultimate weapons in Final Fantasy Type-0, though this must be done after the player's first playthrough.

3 Zalbaag Beoulve (Final Fantasy Tactics)

A member of House Beoulve, Zalbaag was born on June 30th, making him the second son of his house. This naturally means he cares for his younger siblings, Ramza and Alma, and looks to his elder brother Dycedarg as a role model. In fact, like Dycedarg, Zalbaag maintains a calm and composed front, allowing him to carry out even the most reprehensible orders with little care, which causes a rift between him and Ramza throughout Final Fantasy Tactics.

As both an Ark Knight and the leader of the Order of the Northern Sky, Zalbaag's swordsmanship is known across all of Ivalice to the point that the people have named him its savior. As a testament to his skill, not only did Dycedarg entrust Zalbaag with many tasks during his time with the Northern Sky, but it was Zalbaag who was able to defeat the equally-powerful Dycedarg after the former found out the latter's role in the death of their father, though Dycedarg also managed to kill Zalbaag shortly before his defeat.

2 Strago Magus (Final Fantasy 6)

Strago from Final Fantasy 6

One of the last party members to join during the events of the World of Balance, Strago is an elderly but chipper Blue Mage who resides with his granddaughters Relm in the town of Thamasa. Born on June 13th, Strago is also one of the oldest members to join the party, though he is quick to anger whenever someone refers to him as such. In his youth, Strago was a renowned monster hunter, though his passion dissipated when Ebot's Rock, home to the notorious beast Hidon, sunk, much to his displeasure.

Upon the party's arrival in Thamasa in search of Espers, Strago denied any knowledge of them and insisted the town would be of no help. It is only until Relm's life is put in danger that Strago finally reveals his knowledge of the Espers as well as Thamasa's status as a safe haven for the Magi. Strago's unique command in Final Fantasy 6 is the Lore ability, a Blue Magic command that allows him to use enemy skills that he previously witnessed in battle.

1 Marach Galthena (Final Fantasy Tactics)

Marach confronting his sister Rapha about Duke Barrington in Final Fantasy Tactics

First introduced as an assassin under Duke Barrington's employ, Marach is known for his unique Nether Mantra ability, something he has possessed since his birth on June 9th. He and his sister Rapha respectively serve as Duke Barrington's personal Netherseer and Skyseer, killing anyone the Duke tells them to. However, while Rapha has doubts about Barrington and his nature, Marach is unflinchingly loyal to him, owing him a debt for giving him and Rapha a home after their village was razed.

Though Marach refuses to believe Rapha's words about Barrington's true nature, even going as far as striking her, it is not until Ramza and his party confront the Duke on the Riovanes Castle rooftop that Marach learns of Rapha's abuse at Barrington's hands. Enraged, Marach tries to confirm the truth of his words, but ends up sacrificing himself when Barrington attempts to kill Rapha. Fortunately, he is revived by the Scorpio auracite, upon which he joins Ramza in his bid to rescue his sister Alma.
