Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is one of Square Enix's most successful mobile games out there, partially due to its crossovers. Over its lifespan, the game has had crossovers with Square Enix’s own Tomb Raider and Valkyrie Profile along with PlatinumGames’ NieR: Automata, but there have been some bizarre crossovers as well with pop singers Ariana Grande and Katy Perry. However, this time, the game has gone for a more sensible choice in Octopath Traveler, which is available from August 23rd to September 5th.

Those who are unfamiliar with the title, Octopath Traveler is a popular turn-based RPG that came out in 2018 on Nintendo Switch. It was arguably one of the best games of 2018 and sold out fairly quickly after its release. Final Fantasy Brave Exvius’ new crossover event will grant players the ability to summon Olberic, Primrose, Tressa, and Therion from the turn-based RPG.

The raid boss is Gaston who was also part of Olberic’s story as the leader of the Brigands. Players will not only have to defeat the boss but also defeat his underlings. A trial boss will also be available from 30 August onwards. The trial boss is Blotted Viper who appeared in Alfyn’s story as the first boss. Alfyn, on the other hand, did not make the cut for this crossover. All the characters from Octopath Traveler will appear in a pixelated form even though they were already pixelated, to begin with, but this time it has been reimagined with a more Final Fantasy-Esque sprite style.

Octopath Traveler had been exclusive to the Nintendo Switch for a whole year, but Square Enix did release a PC version via Steam in June 2019. They have also announced a sequel for consoles and a prequel for mobile platforms. The Prequel Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent is set to launch this year, but the console sequel still remains a mystery.

Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is a free-to-play game available on iOS and Android mobile devices.
