The Final Fantasy series features an array of unique and otherworldly weapons, armors, and accessories, but most players forget the benefits of utilizing the franchise's items. The player will gain access to better items as they progress through the story, but many tend to prioritize magic to avoid wasting some of the more useful ones.

Some items in Final Fantasy allow the player to heal themselves, while others apply brief buffs to their characters, making them even more necessary when the party's White Mage is absent. Items can also inflict tremendous damage when used correctly, making them must-haves for those who find themselves in dire situations.

10 Potion

The Potion is usually the first item a player will obtain in a Final Fantasy game. Acting as the only means of restoring health, it will be heavily utilized during the early stages of a story until better items become available. Final Fantasy 7 Remake portrays the Potion as an energy drink that can be acquired from all the vending machines scattered throughout Midgar.

Though potions are mostly discarded as a narrative progresses, it is difficult to deny how necessary they are for a game to truly begin. Without them, the player is unlikely to best the tutorial segments, making them a key requirement for surviving its challenges.

9 Hi-Ether

The Hi-Ether in Final Fantasy

Unlike the Ether, the Hi-Ether, also known as the Turbo Ether, allows the player to restore an extremely large amount of their Magic Points. These points are usually limited and require constant refilling to permit the player the option to cast magic.

The Hi-Ether is one of Final Fantasy's rarer items, so only a small amount can be collected throughout a game's main story. They prove to be exceptionally helpful during the series' more arduous battles where a player finds their MP quickly depleting.

8 Tent

The Tent Item in Final Fantasy

While traversing the frighteningly vast worlds of Final Fantasy, the player will likely encounter some terrifyingly ruthless foes. Though Potions and Ethers will serve to revitalize a party, they are finite resources that eventually run out.

Tents may be the best sources of health and magic regeneration outside combat. The player can utilize these miniature camping sets on the world map and sometimes at save points, a limitation that forces the player to strategically approach using them.

7 Holy Water

Tidus, Yuna, and Wantz in Final Fantasy 10

The Zombie status effect is arguably one of the most dangerous ailments present in Final Fantasy. If a party member is inflicted with Zombie, all restorative items used on them will cause damage, often causing game overs for those who come unprepared.

Though Remedies are known for removing multiple status effects, only the Holy Water can negate the effects of Zombie. Final Fantasy 10 requires its player to purchase these miraculous liquids before the game's final few bosses to diminish the challenges they pose.

6 X-Potion

X-Potion Final Fantasy 7

Though the Hi-Potion is one of the more heavily utilized items in the series, collecting a few X-Potions completely negates the need for them. The X-Potion is a far more effective means of restoration, making it one of the best means of healing in each game it appears in.

The X-Potion was first implemented in Final Fantasy 6 wherein it could fully restore one character's health. Though certain installments attempted to diminish its usefulness, it remains one most the most reliable items to exist in the entire series.

5 Teleport Stone

Vaan and a Save Crystal in Final Fantasy 12

The Teleport Stone can be used for several things depending on its appearance. Final Fantasy 12 allows Vaan and his comrades to harness the power of these inanimate objects to fast travel to different locations, but they need to be at a Save Crystal to do so.

Though it was handy to have in FF12, the Teleport Stone is most useful when its usage transports a party out of a dungeon. This incredible feature allows the player to escape the peril housed in the series' most dangerous locations, while also discarding the need to backtrack to a dungeon's entrance.

4 Hero Drink

Cloud drinking a Hero Drink in Final Fantasy 7 Remake

The Hero Drink is a recurring item in the series that harbors a variety of unique features. Final Fantasy 7 allows Cloud and his friends to slurp this nectar down individually, an action that negates all incoming damage from those who oppose them.

The Hero Drink is a particularly rare item with only three available to collect in the game. If the player desires to harness its benefits after three uses, they must best the Master Blade and the Iron Claw enemies in combat, but receiving this rare item is not always guaranteed.

3 Phoenix Down

The Phoenix Down item in Final Fantasy 7

Fans of the series will tend to rely solely on their party's healer when faced with the powers of evil. In theory, this approach promotes an element of strategy, but the player will be forced to abandon this tactic if their White Mage is felled in combat.

Without the means of magically resurrecting a fallen party member, the player will have to scavenge through their items to find a way to bring them back to life. The Phoenix Down, though it only restores a small amount of health, is oftentimes the only means of turning the tide in a losing battle.

2 Remedy

The Remedy Item in Final Fantasy Gilgamesh

The further a player journeys into the world, the more dangerous their adventure becomes. Many enemies have the power to decimate Final Fantasy's iconic characters in one fell swoop thanks to their unrivaled strength, but some approach the party with a few different tricks up their sleeves.

Some enemies can barrage the party with an array of devastating status ailments. Becoming inflicted by one of these effects can quickly be remedied, but surviving the infliction of multiple can be quite challenging. A player experiencing these hindrances should immediately use a remedy to halt their character's suffering.

1 Megalixer

The Megalixer Item in Final Fantasy 6

The Megalixer is arguably the best means of rejuvenating a party. When used, this item will fully restore the health and magic of each character on-screen. They are extremely overpowered items that usually negate the challenge posed by all the game's enemies.

To counter its game-breaking abilities, the Megalixer is made to be extremely difficult to obtain. Often hidden in hard-to-reach treasure chests or rewarded for defeating a challenging boss, the Megalixer is perhaps the most elusive item present in the series.
