One of Square Enix’s older role-playing titles, Final Fantasy 9, seems to be experiencing a recent resurgence of love from its fanbase. Given that the video game company has been busy developing the modern remake of Final Fantasy 7, and even porting niched titles such as Legend of Mana, it is not surprising that players of the company’s other RPGs are clamoring for remasters of their own. Now, to showcase their love for all things Final Fantasy 9, another fan has shown off an amazing cosplay rendition of lady knight Beatrix.

Fans of Final Fantasy 9 likely need not to worry as Square Enix has already heard their cry to produce something for the title. FF9 will be adapted into an animated series, with its main audience being children. Given that Final Fantasy 9 has many anthropomorphic characters in the game, children will likely find the animated series entertaining and eye-catching. However, fans will likely agree that an animated series cannot compare to an actual remaster or remake of the RPG, and are likely to continue asking for Square Enix to make one in the future.

As an ode to the powerful leader of the all-female army of FF9’s kingdom of Alexandria, Reddit user MeruruAya shared a couple of photos of her Beatrix cosplay to the game’s online community. Dressed in the character’s full regalia, MeruruAya looked like she came right out of Final Fantasy 9. Her outfit looked very complete, with Beatrix’s eyepatch and adorned sword. The photos seem like they were even set in a fantastical location, reflecting the kingdom setting of Alexandria in Final Fantasy 9.

Replies on the Final Fantasy subReddit were very positive about the cosplayer, stating that they loved her photos. Some pointed out that they felt seeing a Beatrix cosplay was very refreshing, given that the online platform is always overflowing with cosplay of other Final Fantasy characters. MeruruAya pointed out that she was happy to share her photos, given that the community had been very open and supportive when she posted her other cosplay from Final Fantasy 9. In that post, she posted photos of her incredible cosplay of Garnet in her popular princess gown.

Given that the animated series of Final Fantasy 9 will be released in a few years, cosplays of the game’s characters will likely flood the internet in the future. Hopefully the animated series will fulfill all fan expectations, and draw the same positive sentiment as the game it was inspired by.

Final Fantasy 9 is available on PC, PS1, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and mobile devices.
