Square Enix kicked off its E3 2019 presentation with a deep dive into Final Fantasy 7 Remake, showing off the game's combat system, the first boss fight against the Guard Scorpion, and our first good looks at Tifa and Sephiroth. After the presentation wrapped, Square Enix detailed the voice cast for Final Fantasy 7 Remake, revealing that protagonist Cloud Strife has been recast, along with all of the other characters.
Steve Burton has been voicing Cloud Strife since 2002's Kingdom Hearts, but after portraying the character for 17 years, he has been recast. In the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Cloud is played by Cody Christian, a 24 year old actor best known for his role on MTV's Teen Wolf reboot series.
Other notable actors appearing on the Final Fantasy 7 Remake voice actors list include Tifa's Britt Baron, who plays Justine on GLOW, as well as Wedge's Matt Jones, best known for his role as Badger on Breaking Bad.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Voice Actors
- Aerith - Briana White (Occupants)
- Barret - John Eric Bentley (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen)
- Biggs - Gideon Emery (Star Wars: The Clone Wars)
- Cloud - Cody Christian (Teen Wolf)
- Jessie - Erica Lindbeck (Persona 5)
- Sephiroth - Tyler Hoechlin
- Tifa - Britt Baron (GLOW)

Some fans may be sad to see the various Final Fantasy 7 Remake roles recast, especially since Steve Burton has been providing Cloud's voice for such a long time. However, it was previously reported that Burton would in fact be reprising his role as Cloud in Final Fantasy 7 Remake, so it would be interesting to learn why he was ultimately recast.
Perhaps more information on Square Enix's decision to go with a new voice cast for Final Fantasy 7 Remake will come to light in the coming days. Square Enix has a playable demo of Final Fantasy 7 Remake available on the E3 2019 show floor for attendees to play, so more about the game should be revealed this week.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake will launch on March 3, 2020 for PS4.
