Earlier today, Square Enix released another batch of Final Fantasy 7 Remake screenshots to go along with its growing collection. And through these screenshots, the game revealed several new characters that will be making their first-ever appearances in the Final Fantasy 7 universe when Remake debuts.
They all follow the theme of being associated with Don Corneo, the crime boss tied to FF7's infamous cross-dressing mission, and a man on a mission to find a new "wife" every night. There are three characters in total, and their names are Madam M, Chocobo Sam, and Leslie Kyle, who Square affectionately described as Don Corneo's lackey.
"Don Corneo's lackey" -- or "Corneo's lackey," to be more specific -- was the name of an enemy type found in the original Final Fantasy 7. For the most part, they were a group of faceless goons that Cloud faced off against while inside Don Corneo's mansion. The only two of them that had names were Scotch and Kotch.
Square didn't mention these two in this latest screenshot dump, though, and since the developer gave their titles to Leslie Kyle as a nickname, he's probably taking their place. When describing Leslie, Square takes the time to point out that he's a young man, suggesting that he's younger than Cloud and his group. Despite his age, however, he has the attitude of a "curmudgeon," or a bad-tempered old man. His apathetic attitude and deadpan look make his colleagues proud to associate with him, making his status the opposite of the new SOLDIER character, Roche.
Madam M runs a hand-massage parlor in Wall Market, the section of the Midgar's slums Don Corneo rules over. Similar to the returning character Andrea Rhodea, Madam M holds a position of power in Corneo's organization and can approve women to audition for the role of his "wife" for the night. According to Square Enix, while running her parlor, M only shows courtesy to those with deep pockets.
Last but not least: Chocobo Sam. As his name implies, Sam's job deals with handling Chocobos, which he does through a delivery service cleverly called "Sam's Delivery." Like Madam M and Andrea, he too can approve women auditioning for Don Corneo's wife, effectively making Leslie the only new character that can't. Sam is described as someone who loves to gamble and enjoys the rush it gives him more than the money he can win.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake will launch on April 10, 2020, for the PlayStation 4.
