A new Final Fantasy 7 Remake trailer was finally revealed during Sony's recent State of Play livestream, confirming that the highly anticipated game is indeed still in the works. While this new Final Fantasy 7 Remake trailer was certainly enough to get many fans excited, some may still wish to have one major question about the game answered: When is the Final Fantasy 7 Remake release date?
At the time of writing, there is no officially confirmed release date for Final Fantasy 7 Remake. This information may come as a disappointment to those that are most excited about the new take on the jRPG classic, but some of Square Enix's recent activity may provide some insight on when Final Fantasy 7 Remake is coming out.
The first possible indication of the FF7 Remake release date came as part of Square Enix's recent financial reporting, which took place in February. During this briefing, it was suggested that the company could expect high revenue income during the upcoming winter, which seemingly points to the release of an anticipated title during that timeframe.
This statement was left relatively vague, but the company's president, Yosuke Matsuda, further suggested that people should look towards the road to E3 2019 for more announcements from Square Enix. Indeed, the recent State of Play that featured Final Fantasy 7 Remake is certainly in close proximity to June's E3 2019, and it was further confirmed during the stream that the title will be shown during the expo.
While speculative, it does appear that the announcements Matsuda was referring to may be those that have just been made about Final Fantasy 7 Remake. If that is the case, then it stands to reason that FF7 Remake may be the source of Squre Enix's expected revenue boost this winter.
Furthermore, a recent discovery in the source code of the official Final Fantasy 7 Remake website also seems to point to an imminent release of the title. Specifically, it is indicated in the code that the Final Fantasy 7 release date is "coming soon."
With these activities in mind, it does seem possible that the Final Fantasy 7 Remake release date may be planned for the end of 2019 or early 2020. That said, it is important to reiterate that this release window is purely speculative at this time, but, hopefully, fans will get more definitive details on Final Fantasy 7 Remake development during E3 2019.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake is in development exclusively for PS4.
