The month of June 2021 seems to be shaping up as an exciting time for many owners of the PlayStation 5. Not only will Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and The Elder Scrolls Online be released for the PS5 during this timeframe, but Final Fantasy 7 Remake fans will finally be able to play the RPG on the next-gen platform this month. Ahead of the release of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade on the PlayStation 5, Square Enix has dropped an updated that allows players to transfer their save files from the PS4 onto the PS5.

Many fans were able to enjoy the remastered FF7R on their PlayStation 4 consoles when it was first launched last 2020. However, given the rise of next-gen gaming platforms, it was not a surprise that Square Enix made preparations for the RPG to make its way onto the PlayStation 5. Not only that, the developers added fuel to the fire by adding a platform-exclusive Yuffie Kisaragi DLC. Overall, Final Fantasy 7 Remake fans have all the incentive to upgrade to the PS5, at least just to experience the additional story content.

Showcased in the FF7R Intergrade final trailer, Square Enix announced that PS4 owners of the game will be able to transfer their save files onto the PS5 version. However, it was only this week that the update was released on the PlayStation 4. As shared by Wario64 on Twitter, the update has been patched onto the console, a week before the game hits the PlayStation 5 on June 10, 2021. Players need to download and apply the update on their PS4 in order to find new menu prompts when they boot up Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

With this update, gamers will be able to upload an unlimited number of save files, however they must be transferred one at a time. Final Fantasy 7 Remake trophies and achievements will also make its way to the PS5, so players will not have to worry about working on them once more when they continue their adventures in Midgar. However, custom settings will not be transferred, therefore players will need to set them up again when they boot up the PS5 version of their game.

With the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade release date just around the corner, fans are likely primed to jump into the action once more. Hopefully both the PS5 version of the game, plus the exclusive Yuffie content, will live up to the hype and make the upgrade to the next-gen platform all worthwhile for the huge FF7 fanbase.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade and the Episode Yuffie DLC will be released on June 10 for PlayStation 5.
