Final Fantasy 7 Remake has left many fans eagerly waiting to see what it has in store for them. While Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade gave fans a brief look at what to expect through its INTERmission DLC mission, fans still have many questions left to be answered.

One reason fans have so many questions is because of how drastically different Final Fantasy 7 Remake is from the original title. The game features an entirely revamped combat system and even has made massive story changes so that fans aren't sure what to expect. This includes characters not dying when they did before, or even having a whole faction from a spin-off game appear in Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

Not much has been revealed about Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2, but the game's co-director Naoki Hamaguchi recently did an interview with the Washington Post that revealed some of what players can expect. The features Hamaguchi touched on were specifically related to some of the new additions to combat introduced in Final Fantasy 7 Remake's new INTERmission DLC. He says that the team behind the game is very proud of the DLC's combo moves and that the feature will likely be seen again as the series moves forward.

Hamaguchi says that he likes the mechanic in particular because of the strategic elements it added to the game's combat while feeling different from other moves players were used to in the base game. Hamaguchi also says that he is planning on bringing other elements the team tried out in INTERmission to the mainline games of the remake, but he does not elaborate on what those may be in the interview. With how different Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2 will likely be from the first part, it will be very interesting to see what changes from INTERmission make it into the game along with the other changes made by the team.

With how well-received Final Fantasy 7 Remake's INTERmission DLC has been by critics and players, it is not that surprising that the development team would want to keep some of its features intact moving forward. However, how those changes will mix with the series' new combat system that allows players to switch between characters on the fly will be very interesting to see. Hopefully, fans will get some more news on the future of the series soon so that players can start understanding more of Final Fantasy 7 Remake's complicated timeline.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is available now on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
