Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2 is easily one of the most anticipated games on the horizon. The first chapter of the remake reintroduced veteran fans to a cast of characters that they've known for years, and brought new fans into a much more expansive vision of the city of Midgar. Final Fantasy 7 Remake was received well critically and commercially, and it introduced some big changes to the original's narrative that has fans excited to see what comes next. With the rest of the world of FF7 opening up in the next chapter, there's one are that many fans are going to likely have big hopes for: the Gold Saucer.

Now that Cloud and the others have escaped Midgar, Shinra, and fate itself, the next chapter of the remake project will bring them into the larger world. Given the expansive nature of Final Fantasy 7 Remake and the amount of detail that was put into even just the single city of Midgar, players are unsure how far into the original story they'll reach in the next game. With that, fans are curious about which areas they'll reach in FF7 Remake Part 2. Given its appearance earlier on in the game, it's likely that players will make it to the sprawling desert casino/resort that is the Gold Saucer.

Veteran fans of Final Fantasy 7 will remember the Gold Saucer as both one of the biggest area for side content and minigames as well as the site of some of the game's most pivotal and personal moments. The Gold Saucer in the original FF7 sees Barret, Cloud, Aerith, and Tifa all experience incredibly important moments both personally and in the greater story. It's also important as the place where players first encounter Cait Sith, the mechanical cat fortune-teller. Almost all of the original's minigames can also be replayed in the Gold Saucer, along with some other arcade games unique to the resort.

With so much tied to the Gold Saucer both narratively and mechanically, fans are likely expecting a lot from the area. This is something Square Enix is more than likely aware of, and based on the first Final Fantasy 7 Remake's attention to detail it will probably pay off for fans. Many elements from the game are present at the Gold Saucer. Combat mini-games similar to the new VR versions, entertainment and flash like FF7's Honeybee Inn, and some of the seedy elements like Wall Market are all at play in the Gold Saucer. While this makes recreating the large casino a challenge, it also presents a lot of opportunities.

Between changes to the timeline of Final Fantasy 7 and the original story itself, the next chapter has a lot of potential. This spills over into the Gold Saucer as well. Just visually, the Gold Saucer will likely be quite a spectacle. The casino will likely be designed much more of a sprawling mini-metropolis similar to the way it's shown during cutscenes in the original game. Even more mini-games could make their way there alongside the traditional ones. The updated motorcycle sequence would be fun to have access to freely, and fans are likely wondering if a certain game involving a moogle will make an appearance.

The Gold Saucer isn't just a place for fun diversions like Chocobo racing, Without spoiling too many elements for fans that might be new to Final Fantasy 7 overall, there are some really important moments that occurred at the Gold Saucer. Aspects of Barret's backstory come back to the forefront, an incredibly personal moment between Cloud and a certain someone, and ties back to the overall narrative about Sephiroth all happen within the resort's walls. A lot of important characters in FF7 have big moments at the Gold Saucer. How Square Enix handles all these elements together is going to be a big part of the success of FF7 Remake Part 2.
