During the February 25 PlayStation State of Play, Square Enix aired a new trailer announcing that Final Fantasy 7 Remake would be getting a PS5 upgrade called "Intergrade," and that Intergrade would introduce a new chapter to the game focused on the classic fan-favorite character Yuffie. She and someone named Sonon Kusakabe, who's a brand-new member of the Final Fantasy 7 universe, will be working together to infiltrate Midgar and steal powerful Materia in the name of Wutai.

As a result of this recent reveal, Yuffie has taken center stage for Square Enix's promotion of the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Remake PS5 upgrade. Over on its Final Fantasy 7 Remake Twitter account, the developer released three new screenshots of Yuffie in one of the new outfits she'll be wearing throughout the Intergrade storyline and beyond, possibly. These shots show her off in the patchwork Moogle outfit she sported in the Intergrade trailer, letting fans see what she looks like both up close and afar.

The original Final Fantasy 7 Remake didn't have any sort of features that allowed players to change the clothes of their avatar character in-game. Instead, it gave the players choices that affected their outfits in Chapter 9, a specific occasion. With this in mind, it's likely that Yuffie's Moogle outfit will only be wearable during a specific point in her new chapter. That said, Intergrade will add new features to the game, so switching outfits — at least for Yuffie — could be a new addition.

Since Square Enix is giving Yuffie some screenshots, it's likely her Intergrade partner-in-crime, Sonon Kusakabe will get some soon too. As a new character, not much is known about Sonon, and screenshot releases are a good way for Square Enix to change that, if only a little. Just like it did with other new Final Fantasy 7 characters — and even for Yuffie this time around — Square Enix can add little descriptions to their screenshot tweets that give snippets on who the subject character is.

Overall, Square Enix certainly took many people by surprise with Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade's introduction of Yuffie. Most players didn't expect her to make an official appearance until the second part of Final Fantasy 7 Remake launched or, at the very least, until promotion for the game got underway. Knowing she'll be one of the original Final Fantasy 7 characters that Remake chooses to expand upon certainly has many fans happy. It'll be interesting to see how Sonon enhances her story.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade launches June 10, exclusively for PS5.
