Ever since the PS5 launched, fans have wondered when Square Enix would bring Final Fantasy 7 Remake to Sony's latest home console. After revealing PlayStation 5 exclusives like Forspoken and Final Fantasy 16, Square Enix announced in February that Final Fantasy 7 Remake will make its way to PS5 this June under the new title Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade. The upcoming PS5 port will also include a new story expansion focused on returning character Yuffie Kisaragi, which can be purchased separately on June 10 for $19.99.

Yuffie Kisaragi was first featured in the original 1997 PlayStation RPG as an optional party member. The character has since gone down as a fan favorite, featuring in almost all of the subsequent Final Fantasy 7 spin-offs including its 2005 animated feature film Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children and Final Fantasy/Disney crossover series Kingdom Hearts. In these titles, Yuffie has been voiced in English by Christy Carlson Romano (Kim Possible) and in later titles by Mae Whitman (Avatar: The Last Airbender).

Today, Square Enix has announced that Yuffie will be voiced by Suzie Yeung (Sword Art Online, Wonder Egg Priority) in the upcoming story expansion, which is now titled FF7R Episode INTERmission. Yeung will be joined by Aleks Le (Demon Slayer) who is voicing new character Sonon Kusakabe. Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy 7's Weiss will also make an appearance in the expansion where he will be voiced by Dragon Ball Super voice actor Daman Mills. Other actors that will star in the expansion include Ashley Boettcher (Kingdom Hearts 3) Griffin Puatu (Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales) and Daniel Amerman (League of Legends).

Square Enix has also detailed Yuffie's playstyle for the upcoming expansion, revealing that players will be able to steal materia from enemies much like how the character did in the 1997 original. Yuffie wields an "Elemental Ninjutsu" ability, which allows the character to change her elemental affinity to fire, ice, wind, and electricity in the midst of battle. She is also capable of engaging in both short and long-range combat. Another of Yuffie's abilities is called "Banishment," which deals more damage depending on how much of the player's ATB bar has been used before it. It can also be used in tandem with the Elemental Ninjutsu ability.

One final thing Square Enix revealed is that owners of Final Fantasy 7 Remake on PlayStation 4 (not including those who received the game through PlayStation Plus last month) will be able to upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version of the game for free when it launches on June 10, though the INTERmission DLC will need to be purchased separately for $19.99.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is coming to PS5 on June 10.
