Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade releases June 10th and with it comes a new DLC chapter featuring Yuffie Kisaragi. Based on trailers for the new chapter, the update will also bring in content from the Final Fantasy 7 spin-off title Dirge of Cerberus. Both of these elements likely mean that big changes will also come for the introduction of Vincent Valentine, whether that comes in Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2 or in a later game.

Intergrade is bring a lot of changes to FF7 Remake by the way it's introducing the formerly-optional character Yuffie and establishing elements from Dirge of Cerberus. In the original FF7, Yuffie and Vincent were both optional characters that could be completely missed if players didn't know the proper ways to unlock them. This was part of why neither character was featured in the game's ending, but later media like the Advent Children movie retconned views of the ending to include both characters. It seems that Vincent will likely end up being more heavily featured in the later games the way Yuffie is being handled in Intergrade.

How Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade Could Change Vincent's Introduction

Retconning elements of its story is nothing new to the world of Final Fantasy 7, each new spin-off game included story components that changed previous ones in both minor and major ways. Final Fantasy 7 Remake is the obvious culprit both by virtue of being the newest FF7 game and given its themes of defying fate. The story of FF7 Remake was changed in some ways even before the pivotal event at the end of the game that creates the possibility for an entirely new story. The trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade in particular has spawned many fan theories about how Compilation of FF7 content is going to make its way into subsequent games.

The trailers for Intergrade have shown characters and elements from Vincent's spin-off game Dirge of Cerberus. While the events that led to Dirge of Cerberus were already in play concurrent with the main narrative, seeing them explored at the same time will be interesting. Deepground, another secretive project run by Professor Hojo and Shinra was dedicated to genetic research centered around Jenova and the Weapons created by the planet in order to create supersoldiers even more powerful than Sephiroth, and Vincent's tangential relationship to that project means his introduction to FF7 Remake will be altered as well.

Vincent was another casualty of the mad scientist Hojo's crazed experiments, formerly a member of Shinra's Turks Vincent had been tasked to help oversee the project that would end up producing Sephiroth. After failing to prevent the scientist Lucrecia from allowing Hojo to experiment on her unborn child Vincent confronts Hojo about the project before being shot down by the scientist. These are relatively obscure elements of FF7 for fans who didn't explore every secret of the original, but Vincent's involvement with Shinra and Deepground mean that his introduction will likely be altered to fit in with the new direction the game is taking as well.

The experiments that gave Vincent his abilities and immortality were largely important to the work that Deepground would continue to focus on, so with the faction's appearance in Intergrade he is likely to have a more direct introduction to the group in later games. While Intergrade is certainly impacting FF7 Remake Part 2, the specifics of how it may impact Vincent's story will likely remain mysterious until players (hopefully still) stumble into his coffin chambers later in the story of Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade releases June 10th for the PlayStation 5.
