Final Fantasy 7 Remake can seem to come soon enough. While fans have gotten glimpses of the highly-anticipated release here and there, there's still relatively little gameplay given how massive the game will actually be. Luckily, a beefy new gameplay demo has just released that offers fans a pretty healthy look at the game.
Right off the bat, fans will notice how sharp the game looks. There's an incredible amount of detail in both Cloud and Barret's designs, which should please long-time fans. Gamers have seen the two characters in a few past demos, but they still don't fail to impress now. Square Enix recently showed the future of Final Fantasy graphics in a demo video, and while Final Fantasy 7 Remake isn't quite as good, it still gets incredibly close.
The demo is pretty combat heavy, showing off the fluid combat system in the game. Square Enix previously explained how combat will work in Final Fantasy 7 Remake, as the game has ditched the turn-based system that was in the original. However, it's still nice to see the system in motion in an extended demo, as its a bit more representative of what players will likely experience in the final release of the game.
The Scorpion Sentinel boss fight should be a bit nostalgic for those that played through the game back on the original PlayStation. It's just a little bit mind-numbing how far Final Fantasy graphics have come in the past few decades, and there will almost certainly be dozens of comparison videos online when the game launches, allowing fans to take a long walk down memory lane. It's still a bit disappointing that Final Fantasy 7 Remake is being split into multiple episodes, but at least there will be plenty of new content for players to enjoy in the remake.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake should prove to be a great time for fans of the original and newcomers to the franchise. It seems to be constructed in a way that will please those looking to scratch a nostalgic itch, while at the same time welcoming new players with modernized mechanics. Hopefully, the final release lives up to all the hype.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake is set to release on March 3rd, 2020 for PS4.
