Part of Final Fantasy 7 Remake's charm comes from its dedication to fleshing out the original lesser emphasized aspects, like the other members of Avalanche. The game provides a fresh perspective on the events of Final Fantasy 7, and new concept art shows some locations that never made it into the game.

Ambitiously and controversially, Final Fantasy 7 Remake is not just a "remake" in the standard sense, but more so a reimagining or a retelling. There being no requirement to fully adhere to the source material, Square Enix received more wiggle room in modifying certain aspects of the narrative for modern audiences, better storytelling purposes, or whatever other reasons it desired. One of the original game's greatest shortcomings was the lack of development of Avalanche, the terrorist group Cloud joins that is trying to dismantle Shinra, the ruthless Mako-seizing company that controls Midgar. From certain characters' fates, to more minute details like the group's overall size, Final Fantasy 7 Remake makes many changes to Avalanche.

Square Enix has released new concept art of Biggs and Wedge's rooms from Final Fantasy 7 Remake. In a new tweet Square Enix writes, "Neither Biggs nor Wedge's rooms appear in Final Fantasy 7 Remake, but we can show you what they look like here...," attaching design drawings of Biggs and Wedge's bedrooms. Square Enix muses, "Can you guess which room belongs to Wedge?" a character known for his plucky if a bit messy personality, and his adoration for cats, making the top sketch his. Biggs' room on the bottom is conversely very neat and orderly, with a made bed and other tidy belongings.

In the original Final Fantasy 7, Cloud and the player do not spend too much time interacting with the other members of Avalanche outside of Tifa and Barret. Later in the game when Biggs, Wedge, and Jessie are all caught in a deadly Shinra attack, the effect of this moment is not very poignant as the player never really knew these characters. Final Fantasy 7 Remake rectifies this by giving many opportunities for the player to learn about these three, including a whole mission to Jessie's parents' house that wasn't a part of the original game. Needless to say, when the trio gets attacked, it has much more weight than it did originally.

While it is somewhat difficult imagining a scenario that would actually take the player to either Biggs or Wedge's rooms, it is nonetheless a neat fact that Square Enix designed those characters' personal spaces. The closest the player gets to any of them is when Cloud visits Jessie's home in the early part of the game, though the player does not see inside as Cloud and Jessie simply talk on the porch. As some character fates have changed, perhaps Biggs and Wedge's rooms will apear in Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Part 2, though who knows how long it will be before that releases.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is available on PS4 and PS5.
