Square Enix's Final Fantasy 7 Remake is absolutely filled to the brim with charm. Dozens of quirky characters constantly chat as they roam the streets, making even the city of Midgar itself feel full of life. Of course, this extends to your friends and companions too - Barrett's softer side shines through his ruthless demeanor better than ever, and Jessie steals the spotlight with her unabashed flirting.

With beloved characters more fully realized, and even a few newcomers, one wonders how many MBTI® personality types are represented in the new Midgar. Does Tifa's popularity really make her an extrovert? Is Cloud's true self attuned to sensing or intuition? Let's take a closer look.

10 Jessie - ESFP

ESFPs are true social butterflies, and Jessie is certainly in her element when spending time with her Avalanche comrades. She's quick with an encouraging word or a departing quip, and eager to lighten the mood with conversation during intense missions. It's hard to imagine Jessie was a much more minor character in the original Final Fantasy 7.

Though she's often the center of attention, her sensing trait means Jessie isn't ignorant of other's emotions. In fact, her consistent efforts to make Cloud feel included and supported shows just how considerate she can be.

9 Biggs - ESTJ

With the combination of thinking and judging traits, this personality typically values reason, rules, and integrity. It may seem like an odd personality for a member of a terrorist organization. While it's true Biggs doesn't abide by the rules laid out by Shinra, he certainly remains dedicated to his friends and their defense of the planet.

ESTJs are at their best when guiding others, and though Barrett is the formal head of their squad, Biggs can often be seen leading the charge. While Jessie is joking or making suggestions, Biggs asks critical questions to find the facts in the situation, making him the perfectly reasoned counterpart to Barrett's leadership.

8 Wedge - ESFJ

ESFJs like Wedge simply love helping others and having that help appreciated. Whether it's keeping Cloud and Tifa company at the risk of third-wheeling, or throwing himself in the way of Shinra Guard Dogs, Wedge's care for his friends is precious, if sometimes misguided.

Wedge's sensing and feeling traits compel him to warn others of live electrical wires and to try and make Cloud feel like an equal member of the group. When Cloud finally reciprocates some affection and says he's proud of Wedge, that appreciation is all the reward this ESFJ needs.

7 Red XIII - INFJ

We haven't seen a whole lot of Red XIII in the remake so far, but if anything his enigmatic qualities reflect how unassuming INFJs may outwardly appear. In reality, Red XIII intensely values courage and honor, and his strong sense of morality is admirable considering what he suffered at Hojo's hands.

Despite their calm and polite attitudes, INFJs are extremely decisive and will steadfastly fight for what they believe in. These pursuits are rarely for their own gain, and Red XIII reflects this selflessness as he strives to fulfill his duty of protecting the planet.

6 Roche - ESTP

Any article about Final Fantasy MBTI® types would be incomplete without Roche because this man simply oozes personality. His extroversion shines through with his dramatic monologues and passion for racing - or was it dancing? Regardless, Roche loves to be the center of attention.

ESTPs are prone to risky behavior, and Roche is, if nothing else, a thrill-seeker. He literally leaps at the opportunity to fight Cloud in the train tunnels, and his motorcycle is destroyed because of this recklessness. Despite all this, his thinking trait maintains a sense of honor and respect, as he makes sure to heal Cloud before their rematch.

5 Barrett - ENTJ

ENTJs are natural-born leaders, so what better personality could there be for an Avalanche leader? Barrett's booming voice and way with words exemplify the confidence, charisma, and dependability of this type. He rallies his troops together despite their fears, worries, concerns, and, of course, fees.

Though one couldn't say Barrett is heartless - his love for Marlene quickly disproves that - he does display the ruthlessness common to ENTJs. His goal of destroying Shinra and saving the planet might be a noble one, but Barrett isn't afraid to burn some bridges and blow up a few buildings to achieve it.

4 Sephiroth - INTJ

Some may argue Sephiroth's personality can be summarised as 'evil,' but a glance at the backstory shown in games like Crisis Core reveals there's a lot more to this war hero. Without delving into spoilers, Sephiroth had a very professional manner and took great pride in his skill as a SOLDIER, qualities he shares with other INTJs.

The combination of thinking and judging means this personality tends to develop quite a rigid, perfectionist view of the world, and this is where things go wrong for Sephiroth. When this view is compromised, he essentially goes mad, leading to the villain we see today.

3 Tifa - ISFJ

Everyone in Sector 7 loves Tifa, but this doesn't necessarily make her an extrovert. The dominant feeling and sensing traits make ISFJs naturally skilled with people, and the overwhelming adoration for Tifa shows just how effective her warm personality is.

Despite her sociability, Tifa seeks out close, deep connections with a select few people. Her introversion allows her to consistently go above and beyond for her true friends, often utilizing her incredible martial arts skills to defend them. But this is sometimes to her own detriment. Tifa can feel trapped by responsibility when she commits so much to others, so she's lucky to have someone like Cloud looking out for her.

2 Aerith - ENFP

Like Tifa, Aerith readily invests her time in those around her, though she's a lot more open with her feelings. She won't hesitate to scoot over and sit closer to Cloud or sneak out to walk him home. She barely knows the man, but there isn't a hint of reservation or concern about rejection to be seen.

Despite her clear interest in Cloud, Aerith doesn't even stoop to jealousy and extends the same charm and compassion to Tifa. Her intuition and perception work in tandem to help her see the connectedness of the world around her, and to appreciate the emotion and experiences that tie everyone in Midgar together.

1 Cloud - ISTJ... or INFP?

Cloud's personality type is a bit of a special case because what we see for much of the game doesn't reflect his true self. To begin with, he's certainly a logical, no-nonsense ISTJ. He's single-minded, goal-oriented, and only concerned with whatever will help him get paid.

As the real Cloud reveals himself, though, we see the idealist in him. According to Crisis Core, Cloud didn't want to become a SOLDIER for money, but to be a hero. INFPs are a rare personality and often misunderstood, which makes it the perfect type for this shy, hidden Cloud.
