Throughout Final Fantasy 7 Remake, players will be presented with a number of choices that, while seemingly insignificant, can have somewhat of an impact on the game. For example, choosing which dress Tifa should wear when Cloud and her are set to go out later on in the game.

One of the choices that may seem monumental occurs towards the end of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, when an old man named Hart asks the player if they would want assistance. He is located right outside the office of Mayor Domino, in the library rotunda.

Hart will offer this information in exchange for 10,000 Gil, so it’s not something that every player will want to take. On top of that, hints in video games are sometimes frowned upon, as most players would like to figure out something for themselves.

The good news is that Hart isn’t actually offering a tip that will make the upcoming portions of Final Fantasy 7 Remake any easier. In fact, the “assistance” is really all about giving players a very useful weapon for Barret. As a result, we recommend taking Hart’s hint, if you can spare the money.

How to Get the EKG Cannon

Players that choose to take Hart’s help will get some information about the 64th floor that is actually pretty useless. The party (specifically Barret) will comment on how the assistance Hart offered won’t do the team any good.

Hart is then quick to try to calm Barret down by offering additional compensation. He will give Barret the EKG Cannon, a new weapon.

The EKG Cannon is a magic-focused gun arm weapon for Barret that prioritizes magic over direct attacks. It has a 34 Attack rating and a 65 Magic Attack rating to start, with 4 Materia slots. Depending on how players are approaching the story in Final Fantasy 7 Remake they may end up using the EKG Cannon, but it’s worth knowing ahead of time what the 10,000 Gil really buys.

Throughout Final Fantasy 7 Remake there are tiny moments like this that can give players items, like the dart game for the Luck Up materia, or that unlock a PS4 Trophy. Some of these moments even unlock both. Admittedly, these are not choices that have any major impact on the story – usually they change a detail about an upcoming scene – but fans should find the little wrinkles they add worth seeing play out.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is available now for PS4.
